Just for the point of conversation, I completely disagree. I found that running the Salon2s full-range and using an 80Hz low-pass filter with the sub produced much smoother bass response than using a high-pass filter with the Salon2s. Of course, the sub has support PEQs you tune with room analysis or you'll probably get roominess, but the end result is compelling in the three instances I've done it. The Salon2s have very powerful response to below 30Hz, so for most program material the resulting system is like having three subs. The same is true of many main speakers with high-output capabilities to 30Hz or below.
Also, since the Salon2 has an internal 120Hz 4th order L-R slope crossover to the woofers, using a high-pass filter at 100-120Hz is going to have some rather weird room effects in a very sensitive frequency range, I would guess. Perhaps these odds effects, and having 5 effective subs now, is why you like the bass of your RBH system better than that of the Salon2/dual Funk sub system.
