Well Im finally gonna step it up and but a sub. Im really torn between the SVS PB12/Ultra and the Axiom Audio EP500v2. I know that both of these subs are BIG and Powerful, but which can be claimed as the best? Honestly I dont think Id be disapointed with either, but since the prices are the same which is better? ANY help on this would be greatly aprciated.

Thank you,
Sean

Hells yeah. You drive one too?

EDIT: Nevermind, looked at your website. Nice EF. What power plant is going into that stripped beast? Please say you're going Forced Induction.

I would like to get a B18B1/LS and feed it 15Psi, but I need to save every penny I earn now. Sucks.

It WAS powerd by a GSR swap, now its stripped and sold. I had a 96 GSR swap with...
Password JDM Intake
Blox intake manifold
ProFab intake gasket
Sprarks Racing header
coustom 2.5" stainless testpipe
RS*R GT2 exhaust
Exedy lightend flywheel
ACT HD/SS Clutch
Mix and match single nossle wet nitrous
C&R Full core aluminum radiator
HASport billet moutnts with hydro conversion

Suspension
K-Sport coilovers with coustom springs (1 set for raod racing, 1 set for drag)
K-Sport LCA's
Progress rear sway bar
SPC front and rear camber kit
Energy suspension polly bushing throughout
EX front brakes with Hawk HP pads and Motul fluid
SS brake lines front and rear
ARP Extended wheel studs
Enkei RPF-1 wheels (Falken Azenis for road racing 22x8 MT ET Drag slick for drag racing)

Thats the jist of main **** on the car. Car made 180WHP on motor alone and ran a craptapular time of 13.9@99mph (On 225/50/15 BFG drag radials) problem with those tires was I couldnt get them hot enough so I was doing like 2.0-2.2 60' times. Then came slicks and spray and I did 12.1@115 with a 1.8 60'. The car still had more in it but unlucky for me I hit the revlimiter on spray and poped the motor. The 12.1 pass was with a cold bottle (meaning the pressure wasnt anywhere near what I was adjusted for so it wasnt a full 100 shot) But I decided I want a house and stuff so Im selling off the car in pieces (PAIN IN THE ***)

Sean

P.S. You can see some videos of it on my MySpace www.myspace.com/BrokeEF The pass when I spray (the day time one) was a 12.7, that was a 75 shot that I would hit at about the 60' mark. I street raced alot and didnt want people to get a solid time on the car at the track so NO clocks and a smaller shot sprayed late did the trick.

Shoulda went FI. If I didn't have to save, I'd boost my D16A6. 200hp on a stock bottom.

Ok, I got knocked back to reality a lil bit. I had to think a lil smaller. So now Im between the SB12-Plus or the PB12-NSD. So I need help again guys. I know youl pull through and get me some great advise.

IMO, those two are probably pretty close in performance with maybe a slight edge to the PB-12 down low. The SB-12 is actually quite a bit smaller physically than the PB-12, but I don't think that is what you meant....

Well I was thinking the SB12 would sound a lil cleaner being thats its a small sealed box (Thats car audio thinking) Im not so worried about phiscal size as much as I shouldnd be spending 2000 on a sub right now. As far as room size, I have no clue. Im trying to buy a house so I dont know what my room size is gonna be, and I need to buy the sub before I get the house or the Wife to be will never let it fly. Eventually though the plan is to build a medium/Large dedicated Home theater room.

Thanks

Sealed will sound tighter, but that usually comes at the expense of some output and extension. The Plus is a very different animal than the NSD though, so I think it will probably keep up fairly well with the NSD except on the lowest stuff.

Not necessarily. A poorly designed ported box will sound like garbage, but I have heard very "tight" sounding ported setups. I'm pretty sure that SVS knows what they're doing when it comes to ported subs, so I would lean towards one of those if you have the room.

I agree, not necessarily, but SVS and "poorly designed" aren't things I would put together regardless. The Plus driver has quite a bit more capability than the NSD, however it is in a sealed enclosure and it isn't a simple matter to overcome that.

Looking at the charts, the SB-12 gives up about 2-3dB across the range and drops off significantly earlier than the NSD around 22Hz, so I'd probably opt for the NSD (and it is $100 less).
