People who purchase stuff like that probably live in mansions and drive Bugattis as well. They have money in abundance.
So the only point is that damn rich people do it because they feel like it and because they can, and we're jealous :D

Jealous? For the Most part, no. Sure,I watch YouTube videos of high end audio shows in Munich,Berlin,Brataslava,London, Stuttgart,, Singapore,Warsaw etc., and yes, there are some items that I see that I wouldn't mind owning(particularly the speakers), but,for the most part, this equipment is too freaky;like something out of of a mad scientist's laboratory,;too ugly and unfeasable for a normal home, with performance attributes that are either imaginary, or which only dogs can hear. And much of the high end audio "Philosophy" is devoted to a 1950's concept of High Fidelity. Vinyl records played on belt drive turntables through vacuum tube amplifiers.

I don't mean jealous of their electronics/equipment.

I mean jealous of their MONEY. :D

But,it's that money that makes it possible to buy such crazy expensive equipment of great style and mystique but questionable value and usefullness.

Seriously, I have no life.
And what’s the point of getting a $3K UHD/SACD player when you get a Sony 4K-UHD/SACD player for $300?

There’s a niche market for just about everything.

And if physical media goes away in the next 5-10 years, what’s the point of any of these players? :D
There is a market for it. :D
Who cares about points when there is a market for it. :D:D:D

What's really cool to me is that this is a free country and just as people like @m. zillch can criticize/make light of other people's choices, I can spend my money the way I like and get what I want that makes me smile.

I'm sure there are plenty more people happily connecting their $10 Bluetooth earbuds to their Samsung Galaxy and streaming Spotify low res music...while scoffing at people like him.

I don't care.
Free country? I pay a good bit of taxes each year. :D

What's the point of stereo-only SACD players,especially astronomically priced ones? Take,for example Marantz's SACD 10 player,price approximately $15,000.. For that price,you could nearly buy FIVE Magnetar UDP-900 player(Price $3200).
