Static in left surround

All of a sudden, when no one was near the receiver, our Yamaha RX-V867 (6 weeks old) developed static in the left surround speaker.

To troubleshoot, I swapped the left and right speaker cables and the problem moved to the right surround.

To be doubly sure, I hooked up another receiver to the surrounds and they worked with no problems.

So, I conclude that the problem is with the receiver.

My question then is whether there is something I might have missed or not thought of.

Thanks,

Mac

The left surround amp has become noisy and is failing. Your receiver needs replacement under warranty.
