Star Trek "Into Darkness"

Do you have amazon prime? I would imagine that makes a difference If you do, it sucks that they didn't get it to you in time.

I have been into Star Trek since the first episode on TV. I have seen them all. This first reboot was pretty good. I also think into darkness had a lame script. I thought the second one sucked. But that's just me I guess.
I hope ABrahm's doesn't screw up Star Wars also.

You won't be able to tell Star Wars and Star Trek apart b/c JJ is a huge Star Wars fan and tried to make the new Star Trek's as close to Star Wars as possible.

Expect the following from the new Star Wars:

• lots of lens flare
• extreme close ups
• lot's of camera shaking
• over usage of CGI for dizzying special effects
• recycled lines from the original to pander to die-hard fans and seem fresh to new ones

Boy I'm psyched

Tuesday morning, I walked into WalMart, paid $19.95 and walked out with a bundled twofer: Into Darkness Blu-ray, DVD and digital copy in one case and a blu-ray of the first Star Trek (reboot) in a separate case. Hard to beat that. Well, they could have thrown in a DVD and digital copy of the first one too, but I'm not gonna split hairs.

They play to those who will pay the most. My take is that "the masses" will make them money even if/when "the trekkers" boycott the entire reboot franchise.

Finally got to see it tonight and I'll give it a 7 out of 10. Very good action/effects but could have used a slightly better storyline.

Watched it over the weekend, thought it sucked major balls! Gimme a break if they're just going to copy the original movies and just change them up a bit, what's the point? Beyond lame. Glad I rented it instead of blind-buying like I was originally going to.

Pretty girls to be sure, but that's what porn is for. I prefer intelligence in the parts played by the pretty actresses. Eve was embarrassingly stupid.

This just confirms what I said about this film in my LV12-R post. This is not reference material for demoing one's sub. There are many more better films out there. However, the surround use was put to good use.

From Cadet to Captain & Caveman to Weapons Expert

I just love how a guy 300 years behind the times can be the weapons expert of the Elite Section 31 organization of Starfleet in just a few months, kinda like how a 3 year Cadet can advance ranking to Captain in about 6 minutes Yet another tactic copied from Star Wars; timelines that happen too instantly to be believable.

OK enough ranting for today

It's pretty much the same principle that allowed Ricardo Montebans crew to man an entire starship while being essentialy Gorton's fish sticks only days before.

Not really, Khan studied the Enterprise schematics when kirk revived him. Also Kirk gave him access to Starfleet database when he marooned him on the planet. He had 15 years to learn. He also injected mind creatures into some of the key crew of the Reliant to help him operate the ship.

In new Trek Khan was DESIGNING the most advanced starship of the fleet only months after being revived. Ridiculous.

I also love how they warp away from Klingon space and just appear by Earth's moon seconds later after the Vengeance disables their warp drive.

There was no reason to make that character Khan other than a lame attempt to appeal to Trekkies. It was <!--[if gte mso 9]><![endif]-->disingenuous. Though, nothing was more disingenuous, cheesy or fake then when Spock yelled "Khan!" Even my 13yo daughter cringed at how lame that scene was.

PS. Don't get me started as to what the need was to make the Enterprise a submarine when they have transporters and shuttle craft. Oh yea, they had to have a Star Wars like scene with a big fish looking at them.
