Never tried online gambling but I have bet on the Steelers to win the SB when in Vegas. Only $20 and I almost won when they went to the SP 10 years ago or so. I also occasionally play the Fla. lotto and Powerball when it gets big enough. Probably a hundred or 2 hundred dollars a year. Oops, maybe I have a problem.
I won $15 on a $2 dollar Fla. lotto today so I took the cash and bought another $2 Fla lotto. I never bother with scratch offs.

Gambling of any kind has never held any appeal for me - even as a younger man ("the" gambling demographic). On very rare occasions (every couple of years, maybe?), I'll buy a lottery ticket. Beer and car commercials used to dominate during the hockey games I watch. Now, it seems to be all gambling. There are even segments of the broadcast dedicated to it. It's not so much a morality thing for me - I just wonder if we're creating another version of the opioid crisis.

I'm too logical to waste any significant amount of money on gambling. A bunch of us get together on Fridays for lunch and during football season one of them brings cards from a bookie. We chip in $5 each on a 3-pick. We get to argue about what to pick and then laugh the next week after we loose. Last season we were 1 for 18. Some seasons we broke even. It was all in good fun. The government just sees it as another revenue stream and contributes a token amount to addiction prevention.

I'll be curious how all of the sports ads will affect viewership. I am so tired of them that I change channels and sometimes do not come back to the game. With paid streaming services being ad free it gets less and less tolerable to sit through commercials. As they say, Las Vegas was not built on winners. The hard part is to set a limit and stick to it. If it's for entertainment and within your set limits then it's manageable but it's pretty easy to convince yourself that the next winner is around the corner.

Gambler's Anonymous exists for the same reason as AA, etc- addictive personality. Gambling, for me, isn't fun or interesting and knowing that the odds favor the house in ALL games, logic tells me that, well, NOPE!

I won't bet on anything that's totally outside of my control. I have gone to the local casino twice- first time, I made my donation to the Potawatomi tribe and the second time, I decided to put money in the slot machine, but only make very small bets, never large. Once I had accumulated credits that would be worthwhile, I cashed out each time and put the ticket in the pocket with no money. I started with $25 and when it was gone, I cashed in my tickets and pocketed close to $140. If I'm in the area, I may go and see if it works again but there's no real attraction for me.

Gambling is a quick way to go broke but some make a lot of money playing Blackjack and poker.
