Speaker Upgrade Questions

I'm looking to upgrade my HT Speakers. The only ones I really want to upgrade are the fronts. This is what I'm running right now:

receiver: marantz sr14ex

center: aerial cc3

rears: m&k tripoles

subs: two m&k mx125 mkII's

If anyone could recommend anything that would work well with this that would be in the $1500 - $3000 range that would be great.
Thanks

You could be in the early stages of some great luck. I say "could be" because I don't know if you enjoy buying used equipment. I've been looking at Aerial Acoustics since I first discovered them a couple of months ago. Here is a great looking set of 7B's on Audiogon. I have heard none better than the AA 7B's.

http://cls.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?spkrfull&1132948648 (By the way, I believe the price for new is $5500 EACH!)

Please note I have no relationship with this seller, the selling site, and can not vouch for the authenticity of the product or seller. That said, the pics had me drooling.

For new speakers, there are many that would fit your requirements. You might consider a pair of ACI Essence V at $1800/pair. I understand from a highly trusted source that they sound much like Aerials. But let your ears make the choice. Your budget puts you in a nice playground of some very good speakers.

Edit: here is the ACI website http://www.audioc.com/index.html

Happy hunting. :)

The used aerials sound like a great deal if you want to go that way. I have heard the lesser end aerials at about $3500 new and they are quite good. Also try Meadowlark Kestrel 2 or Osprey at www.meadowlarkaudio.com or the Vandersteen 2ce or the 3a signatures. Both makers have their price points at 2k and 3.5k for the models respectively. The meadowlarks are definitly bass thin but with those two good subs I don't think you will have a problem. I agee with rjbudz, there are some rREALLY nice speakers in this price range.

I'm looking at the Kestrel 2 right now...but I heard the company went under. For future support, would we be screwed?
