Hello,

I recently had to replace my receiver and just purchased a Yamaha RX-A2A. I wanted to get some feedback on the speaker and other various settings. I know a lot depends on size of room etc.

I have a standard 5.1 setup. Basically use to watch TV and movies. Center speaker is a Definitive Technology ProCenter 1000. L/R Front speakers are Definitive Technology ProMonitor 1000. L/R Surround speakers are Definitive Technology ProMonitor 800. Subwoofer is a Klipsch (not sure model #, but 120V - 60Hz). Speakers are all wired into Receiver. All speakers are from 2017, with exception of Sub, pre-2017.

I ran YPAO once and then ran it again. The distance settings came back pretty accurate. I had to decrease the Sub distance some. Levels came back as following:
* Front L= +3.0db
* Front R= +3.5db
* Center= +3.5db
* Surround L=+5.0db
* Surround R= +4.5db
* Sub= -10.0db

Thoughts on levels?

Are there any other settings I need to worry about?
* Surround Decoder <Auto> / Center Image 0.3
* Dialogue Level >0 / DTS Dialogue Control =0
* Volume - Dynamic Range <Maximum> / Max Volume +16.5db
* Equalizer EQ Select <YPAO: Flat>
* Power Amp Assign <Basic>
* I also went into Scene Settings and some settings have <Enable> and others have <Disable> like Sound, Surround, Volume.

Thanks for any input.

Levels are dependent on speaker sensitivity as well as distance from primary measurement point. I don't see anything particularly unusual in your results/settings, is there a particular issue/problem?

No particular issue or problem, was just curious about settings that came back. Thanks

If it sounds like it got everything to about the same level then it worked. My YPAO mic got lost or something so my only Yamaha amp with room correction doesn’t seem to sound right without calibration. Does it set the bass too low ? What is your opinion on the calibration?

Settings appear to be fine. What you want to avoid is a large boost like +15dB, so +/- 3 to 5 is ok. What I have seen most often here is a big boost on the subwoofer requiring the subwoofer input level to be turned up so that the boost/trim is closer to 0dB.

I meant to also comment on your particular settings at the bottom of the post. I'd look at your manual for definitions if needed, not sure what they all are but I don't use a Yamaha avr, but mostly about preference.
