The US is a different market than Japan, all the major corporations have models and technologies that are "home based" only, they won't bring it outside Japan. The Japanese are notorious early adopters, that's why they get the cool goodies first. This won't make a dent in the format debacle, what will though is the Chinese announcement introducing their own format based on technology proprietary to HD DVD. That will flood the market with cheap hardware easy to re badge and allow second and third tier brands to get into the action, all with HD DVD based hardware. And at the end of the day we all know the money is in software not hardware.
