To offer any possibly useful advice, people would need to know a bit about you. Location, age, skills, work experience, etc...

This world ain't gettin' any easier and schooling helps. Trade schools included. No offense, going to school for music won't really assure food on the table in the future unless you shoot for teaching, and even that's not guaranteed. I haven't seen too many want ads for rock stars.
My principal instrument was tuba...

I'm 20, living in Ohio. As far as skills, it depends. I'm a very advanced pc user, and generally have a good understanding of all things electrical and mechanical. I've been building PA cabinets on and off for the past three years. I occasionally make money on them, but generally I don't.

Here's some builds: http://s19.photobucket.com/albums/b171/WafflesOMD/Cabinet builds/

People don't really seem to care about what I can do unless there's a piece of paper to back it up.

I tried to for several years to get hired by a touring group, but that never happened. I'm well qualified and would do an excellent job, but no one seemed interested.

I was planning on finishing up my associates at a CC and then transferring over to OU for their bach. in telecommunications, but there's no way in hell we'll ever be able to afford that.

If you're good with PC's, capitalize on that. Post ads with those tear-off "flags" on the bottom with your phone number where-ever you can : supermarkets, schools, churches, businesses, telephone poles, wherever they let you.

Get some business cards printed up for this and pass 'em out. They're cheaper than making your own on the computer.

No guarantee, but people are always looking for a GOOD, RELIABLE, reasonably priced computer guy.

Again, this really works best in populated areas.

If you want to do sound and you attend church, they are always looking for audio/video techs and that looks good on your resume, not to mention the references you can generate.

Hey Wafflesomd,

If things are as bleak as you say the military (as already suggested) could be a very good opportunity with your skill set. The Navy or Air Force with there extreme amount of electronics could be a very nice fit. (They have military bands also...)

What ever you chose I hope that things work out for you and you find happiness. (I'm sure you will.:))

I would need to get my charges expunged from my record, and that costs a lot more than we have right now.

Note that it is not my intention to me rude, but I am just straight to the point. Don't take my sincerity as an ********* tone.

Instead of sulking you need to formulate a common sense game plan.

1st I would say go to an employment agency and see what they can come up with. Remember that even day labor is better than no labor.

2nd Talk to a lawyer (I suggest more than one) to find out what it is going to cost to get this off your record. This needs to be done regardless. Not all lawyers are going to charge the same thing. Find a local one that is not a "hot-shot" and see if he will work with you ie. payment plan (need to be doing some type of work in order for that to happen)

I would start with those 2 goals first, then take a breath and look whats next. I can say this because I have been there before. The hardest thing to do is getting rid of self-pitty, feeling of worthlessness, and then realizing that no one is going to "give" you a golden egg.

Good luck I wish you the best!!

Yea, I am feeling a lot better today. More confident.

This whole situation, along with the loss of data, really had me down.

I went out and submitted some more applications.

Can't let this discourage me.
