"That name sounds like royalty. Are you royalty?"

LOL, most of the best Sgt. Hartman quotes are in the Favorite Movie Lines thread.

Sorry Matt. Not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing, but I guess it means you are doing something right.

Relaxen Jackson is where I went to basic; I still have fond memories of being in the leaning rest on top of ant hills...fire ants that is.

Even with the fire ants and flying cockroaches, I'd say Jackson is better than Lost in the woods.

I feel for you man, I think I might have preferred redeployment over being called up to be a DS.

Best Wishes.
I'm talking to my program manger this week while I'm at ft. Bliss trying to get on another deployment tasker.

Well, looks like I'm not going drill anymore. Just got back from my Orthopedics appt. and they put me on a permanent profile for my knee. The doc said it looks like my injury eight years ago was more likely a dislocated knee than a meniscus tear (even though there is a “stubble tear” still visible in the MRI and the result of that dislocation injury caused damage to the cartilage behind the knee cap. So over the last eight years it’s just gotten worse. She said they can do surgery but she wouldn't recommend it at this point as I'm still active, so they got me a brace and I'll be going in for injections over the next few weeks.

Now to make some phone calls so I can go where I want instead of waiting for the Army to pick.;)

Well my first choice is not so much a location as it is a new job.;) I'll still be working with dogs, just a slightly different type of dog. It's a five month school part, of it in Texas and the other back here in Arizona. If that doesn't work out I'm going to try for Ft. Eustis, VA again.

I decided to get it checked out after I found out about this school because you have to run a lot....every day. I've been able to manage my conditioning around my injury for the past eight years, I would not have that liberty if I went to become a drill sergeant.

Does this mean you won't be the unit's big toe?

Thanks again for serving our country, Matt! Sorry to hear about your knee but seems like it may work out for you after all. It would have been cool if you wound up here in SC....you could have driven the Charger:)....and we could have watched a few flicks here in my theatre. Oh, well!
Virginia is a nice state. I was born there (Roanoke). If you ever get over that way let me know. I can direct you to some great local eateries!;) Your arteries may hate me for it:eek: but your palate will love it.

I don;t know if I would call a messed up knee a blessing in disguise. In a car accident that I broke my femur in 8yrs ago - they put a rod in my leg but did not do any work on my knee and now I have a lot of minor knee problems that just seem to be getting worse with age. Anyway, at least it does get you out of the the whole Hartman syndrome :)

Glad to hear the good news:)

What's your second choice or plan? It always seems that the Army likes to give you your second choice no matter what it is.
