That fun-loving religion of peace apparantly doesn't approve of last week's episode.

'“We have to warn Matt and Trey that what they are doing is stupid and they will probably wind up like Theo Van Gogh for airing this show,” Al-Amrikee wrote. “This is not a threat, but a warning of the reality of what will likely happen to them.”

The posting listed the addresses of Comedy Central’s New York office and Parker and Stone’s California production office. It also linked to a Huffington Post article that described a Colorado retreat owned by the two men.

CNN, which first reported the posting, said the New York-based website is known for postings in support of jihad, or holy war, against the West and Osama bin Laden.

Al-Amrikee told The Associated Press that the posting was made to raise awareness of the issue and to see that it does not happen again. Asked if Parker and Stone should feel threatened by it, he said “they should feel threatened by what they did.”'

the fact that this "threat" was issued from within the US does make me wonder...

I hate islam as much as anybody else (maybe hate is the wrong word, hold contempt for Islam is the more correct term, but not even for Islam particularly, mostly any religion, which are pretty much hated equally.), but veiled threat? That part you quoted didn't sound like a threat, more like a reality check... Which sadly is true...

Of course all those muslim leaders denigrating expression of free speech and reprimanding are, even if indirectly, IF you consider it indirectly, actually guilty of urging retribution by exclaiming how wronged all muslims and the prophet have been. If they instead urged calm and forgiveness, then the 'religion of peace' pretense would be a little more serious... But by always acting offended and making a huge deal out of really nothing, they're just inciting their followers to become offended themselves and then hold even more resentment and hatred...

“We have to warn Matt and Trey that what they are doing is stupid and they will probably wind up like Theo Van Gogh for airing this show,” Al-Amrikee wrote. “This is not a threat, but a warning of the reality of what will likely happen to them.”

Al-Amrikee told The Associated Press that the posting was made to raise awareness of the issue and to see that it does not happen again. Asked if Parker and Stone should feel threatened by it, he said “they should feel threatened by what they did.”

He said he was disappointed that publicity about the posting focused more on the potential danger to the producers but admitted, “I could shoulder some blame” for it.

He said he “can’t answer that legally” when asked if his group favored jihad. But he praised bin Laden.

“We look up to him and admire him for the sacrifices he has given for the religion,” he said.

Last week’s episode, the 200th for the cheeky and often vulgar cartoon, was intended to feature many of the personalities and groups that Parker and Stone insulted during the series’ run.
Ah, ok... cross what I said earlier, 'veiled' is even pushing it. He's about as subtle as a brick. Gotta luv it. And btw, which "Islamic leader" are they talking about exactly? The 1500 year old dead prophet? Give me a ****ing break.

Trying to find the video, authors talking about it:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HcbJTo7sYFw cartoon at 3min is classic. And interesting comments, following it. How the danish cartoons, well, massive uproar, deaths, murders, etc. eroded free speech.

So is this the video? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a99qfg8YTG0&feature=related there another link on the article about at 22min video "Quest for ratings" but I couldn't see it...

Yep, looks like it's the prophet in a bear costume and not what I posted earlier that has got them upset... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FWhg2zfIogI So much for them trying NOT to draw the prophet, guess a bear costume counts as drawing the prophet...

Take the end of the previous video: " .. Whenever he would give them a command, they would rush to do it. and when ever he would speak, they would be silent as if birds were on their heads... (wtf?) Whenever he would give them a command, they would rush to do it. (something about rushing for water drops for ?groumoush?) Whenever a hair would fall from him they would fight to get it. So all people of ?garshhmouchallachallem? has given you an offer, accept it. because i don't think any follower would ever give him up. This was the the impression that the disbelievers would get when they would see the muslims. That they would never give him up. That they would never betray him. That they would never leave him. That they would fight till the last man, for his protection. But times are different. So brothers and sisters we ask ?allahsowallahjelly?, that he raises amongst us, man and woman, ?alawayeleyarralayelick? they do not fear, in the sake of allah the blame of the blamers, who would make the ?coffad? realize, that they, by committing blasphemy against our beloved muhammed have actually walked into a hornet's nests and that the dust of this will never settle down."

Again, that seems mighty threatening to me. Not that hard to see this as invitation of violence. Yeah sure at the end he talks about making videos... That's the hornet's nest and that's the dust that will never settle? Could have fooled me...

My god... youtube comments... Horrible...

*sigh* I love vagueness. I truly do. It serves to look like you're making a point when you're actually just hinting that someone said something which you think might not have been entirely true, without really saying what it is you think is wrong with it and why. Which is absolutely pointless... :D

What was the generalization? Who is that someone? How are they really? How do you think they think? Looks to me like you're just trying to discredit a position without actually making a point... There's even some not so subtle attacks in there... "who people really are" lol

This: "islam = i slam (everybody who says anything I don't like). islam - the religion of pieces. Deliberately NOT capitalized." was the generalizations you mentioned? State why... Let's see if your point of view is more valid.

And btw, they also had posted a gruesome picture of bloodied/murdered Van Gogh with the "'“We have to warn Matt and Trey that what they are doing is stupid and they will probably wind up like Theo Van Gogh for airing this show,” Al-Amrikee wrote. “This is not a threat, but a warning of the reality of what will likely happen to them.”". In context, the pic makes this 'warning' a really not so subtle threat... Religion and religious folk... Gotta luv it. Where is the outrage when atrocities are committed in the name of Allah? Why the outrage over cartoons and nothing for real issues?

Gotta love a religion that promotes violence. Cause showing a diety that none one has ever proven to exist in a bear costume is worthy of killing two talented men. Oh yeah the muslim community had no issues of Jesus watching porno or Buddha snorting coke (same episode), but having their prophet in a bear costume is too far over the line. Scuz me while my eyes roll further back into my head.

My point is, it's pointless arguing with someone who sees nothing wrong with their generalizations. Over 1.5 billion people on this planet are Muslim, and if you're going to generalize over 1.5 billion people based on this or any other terroristic action you've seen in the past 2000 years, you're seriously misguided. The Christian track record of peaceful existence is no better.

I would have to agree. It is not Islam that is violent it is radical Islam extremists that interpret the religion in their own twisted way. Funny on the South Park guy's though, they are bleeping out all those references to Islam so they backed down. I wonder if they will go back and bleep out the insulting references to Jesus and the Christian faith..........Ya right......

Well, Comedy Central execs actually admitted that Trey and Matt didn't censor the episode and it was the network itself that editted it before airing. They were pretty pissed about it too. One thing I'll give those two credit for, they don't back down for anything.

Of course not.....because Christians don't threaten people before they kill them anymore. We just bomb their villages. :)

Seriously, I have no life.
And people wondered why I stopped going to church. I decided that I couldn't go along with any religion that has killed "in the name of God" in any way or for any reason. The Crusades were between the Christians and Muslims- after 1000 years, they still can't get along.

I was thinking last night, when I woke up at about 3:30 and couldn't fall asleep, that the behavior of people is no different from other animals when viewed from a distance. They take what they need/want, kill when they think it's necessary and often are industrious. Some animals are in it for the long haul, caring for those that need help while others remove those that won't contribute to the community. Some kill the ones that are unable or defective. If something different comes along, it usually ends up in some kind of fight although many animals get along unless a food source is needed. Otherwise, they can get along by avoiding each other.

Overall, people don't learn from history even though many talk about what happens if we forget. We're easily as opportunistic as any other animal and the main difference is our level of technology, not the fact that we have opposing thumbs and aren't afraid of vacuum cleaners.

Absolutely! How many people did the Soviet Union and Communist China murder? Hitler may not have been a declared athiest, but I don't think any of his nasty deeds were done "in the name of God", as such. Such evil happens when absolute power is held by a select few - be they fascist, communist or theocratic.

Let's not get side tracked. The point is all religious groups around for any length of time have done stupid things.
