Some Air Fryers Are Surveillance Threats

Seriously, I have no life.
Why would an air fryer need to be connected to the network???????????????????????????????????????

OK, I guess the phone app could be used to turn it off in case the user leaves the building, but if it's only heating while the timer allows it, is it really risky, especially since it doesn't have hot oil inside?

I believe that those privacy issues are mainly connected to info supplied while registering for a product and some advertising. Even it's been reported that some chain stores are sharing customers' personal info with business partners. It's always good to read website stores' privacy policy.

As suggested by Malwarebytes, we should all limit our email and home address info to known well established businesses (stores, websites etc)

Here is an interesting article on home address security and internet:

I seldom register a new product with a manufacturer. In Quebec, the law protects us for manufacturer's warranty, so we don't need to register a product bought in Canada..

Registration for many products in the US has been mainly for marketing- keeping the original receipt is usually all that's needed. One thing registering is good for, in theory, is when a recall is needed but we have the internet and all kinds of other ways of hearing about them. Before the internet, dealers were informed and they were supposed to contact the original purchaser. They usually didn't, but that takes a lot of time.
