Should I tamper with my sub?...

I may just have to try that. If it makes a real difference, it will certainly be worth a $.20 resistor. :)

Are there any specs oe white papers on this woofer?

In all dual voice coil woofers I have seen, the manufacturer recommends to use both coils at the same time, all the time.

The old Ascendant Audio website, which had all of the specs for the now discontinued Atlas and Avalanche drivers, is no longer available.

If I remember correctly, they recommended the different settings for different applications. I believe the low QTS setting (shorted terminals) was the ideal setting for home theater.

hi fellas, what some people have done is to mount a second terminal cup just for the gold terminal 2 ohm coil and put different value resistors at that point so they can try different values of resistance to find their sweet spot. i've also heard of some who like to install an exterior pot so they can adjust back and forth between music, and HT. cheers!
