Is that a better sounding unit than the Emotiva or the Denon?

Hmmm, hard to say. It is certainly designed as a pre-amp first unlike some receivers where that might be an afterthought. If you have seperate amps, and intend to stay that way then I would probably go with a dedicated pre-amp. There are always exceptions, but thats what I would do. But there is certainly nothing wrong with using a good receiver as a pre-amp. I am doing just that now with an RXV-2600

Looks like its for sure, Insurance is going to get me the Denon AVR-3310CI and the Emotiva XPA-2 and XPA-5, Should I sell the denon and pick up the Emotiva UMC-1, Will it sound better or the same?

With all the issues the UMC-1 has (which I'm sure they will resolve in the future), I would stick with the Denon 3310 for now.

But wait, I think Denon is coming out with the newer AVR-3311 in JUNE which will have the 3D-ready HDMI1.4.

Just finished the set-up with my friends 3310 and B&W. Sounds fantastic.

I wanted to post one other complaint about the 3310, just so you would know. While the receiver will let you set different x-over points for all speakers, the lowest point available for the sub is 80Hz. I just used my friends x-over on the sub itself to get my preferred 60Hz setting. Worked-out fine.

Was not at all impressed with Audyssey. YPAO uses the same exact test tones, but is more thorough.

Thanks for the good info Zumbo. I think I might sell the Denon and pick up the Emotiva UMC-1. Or that Integra looks pretty good.
