Do you know why some medical communities question what Taubes report in his book? It's because he explains how some medical associations are crooked, and promote inexact facts about food.

As examples of their dishonesty, the American Cardiologists Association are proclaiming that saturated fats are causing heart disease, and have to be avoided. That is false, our ancestors were eating good saturated fats and cardiac problems did not exist then. A lot of cardiologists are telling us to avoid good food. Another example of their dishonesty is that in the 1980's, they reduced the maximum normal total cholesterol limit from 240 to 190, you know what for? It's to sell more statins which bring profits of billions of dollars annually only in the US! Some even started to test cholesterol levels on children in a way to sell more statins. Many of those cardiologists are on pharmaceutical companies' payroll. I'm not inventing this, that was reported even by some honest physicians. Money rules!

McDonalds started selling hamburgers and french fries in 1940. Watch what happens with cardio vascular disease as a leading cause of death starting around then:
Then again, Sony started up after WWII so maybe heart disease is caused by Sony products? [sarcasm]

As hygiene and water purification plants across the US proliferated many diseases dwindled off and people started living much longer so diseases which take time to develop (like clogged arteries and some cancers) may appear to have "grown" but its largely that we live longer now.

I just figured out what causes obesity so I think I'll right a book about it. It's proximity to the Mississippi river:
