Currently not being able to plug anything into my HDMI input on the TV and after surfing around, I came across the new Sherwood HSB-600 HDMI-Link. It says it converts component to an HDCP compliant HDMI Out. Does anybody know anything about this puppy?

HDMI converter

THe convert box sounds interesting, however, in order to take advantage of the "benefits" of HDMI, you will need an HDMI or DVI source to output a digital signal to the HDMI input on your TV. You TV can convert from an analog (component video) signal to digital just as well as that converter box can.
In most cases, the difference in video quality between HDMI and component is negligable. Currently there are lots of problems with HDMI compatibility and none with component. I would hold out a year for HDMI 1.3 when the standard is more mature and devices are tested for compatibility.

The HSB600 transcodes YUV into HDMI so you basically connect it to a component output of your receiver and it presents this output in HDMI.
Besides this I believe it has two conventional HDMI inputs acting as a HDMI switch in this case.
From the news I have got from Sherwood the unit is now under compliance testing after which it'll go into production. It is expected to become available in a couple of months.
