I watched this movie last night and I have to say that I was thoroughly entertained even during the slower scenes. Well worth the watch.
I even ud a thread search before posting
Absolutely agree. I was given the entire series on DVD and it is tremendous. If you like Sherlock Holmes, you might want to check out the old series with Jeremy Brett as Holmes. It is, by far, the best Sherlock Holmes I have ever seen.
Here is a link to the first series of the shows he made; you can click on his name to find the others:

I should warn you, though, that the picture and sound quality are not up to theater standards, as it was made for TV. But nothing else even comes close to the quality of the stories and acting of this series.
I enjoyed the new movie too, but it is not in the same league at all as that old series. I would much rather have a great story at DVD quality than a significantly inferior one in state of the art picture and sound. Unfortunately, I have seen them all, and now I need to wait some years to watch them again, to give me time to forget what happens. Jeremy Brett is absolutely great as Holmes, as he really captures the essence found in the original stories (of which I have read several, but not all of them). It is, of course, not just his great acting, but the screenplays kept the essential features of the stories as well, though, as always, they did make some changes in some cases to the stories.Absolutely agree. I was given the entire series on DVD and it is tremendous.
I did enjoy the new Sherlock movie but Jeremy Brett is the only true Sherlock.
