The new camera does like the light in the room well done. And if you fill the bottles up with water and suspend them you can play musical sounds with them.

Here's a layout drawing I whipped up in paint.

The Black blocks are the speakers and subwoofer. The riser is the rectangle under the rear couch. The door is between the right front and the end of my bed.

WOW, ether you very good with the camera or you’re just a natural with the camera but these images are nicely detailed. One thing with sofa placed to close to the back wall and with just a single loudspeaker for the centre back surround that will limit the uniformity of its use of that channel. I’d place a few on the back wall to give even coverage without the hole in the bucket. If this was tried in the cinema it would fail miserably.

If you where to seat yourself off the centre-line of it and listen very, very carefully you might hear what is missing. If you sat further away from it, you’d hardly notice it.

Still that is one fine looking set-up that you’ve put together and thanks for sharing.

I actually put my side surrounds on the back wall. I only have a 6.1 receiver, so I can't run dual rear centers. The surrounds on the side didn't create a proper rear field, you could tell the front to back pans were off.

I'm still learning the camera, those pictures were a little grainy, but they were compressed in Photobucket.

I think the picture shows the Yamaha lots of detail of dust? Well that looked good enough it’s a whole lot better than my £49.99 pound ViviCam 3785 which can’t focus unlike most other digital cameras.

Have you placed pink noise a steady wideband pink noise with say a, test disc? You should really use matching loudspeakers for the surrounds sidewalls and back wall arrays and even thou there positions are going to be in different positions the tone should sound 99% with a little EQ here to bring it even closer.

The nearer you sit to the rear centre back surrounds the frequency response changes in relation to the sidewall surround array, but how many people sit on top of there surrounds?

Here’s a little experiment you can try out you. Buy yourself an affordable audio mixer and send all the main primary channels to the mixers inputs LCR and surrounds and use just one output from the mixer going to an amplifier and a single loudspeaker.

Set the channels up using wideband pink noise to test and set each channel with the same SPL db while looking at the SPL metre, once set-up with equal balance, play the automatic pink noise sequencer from the AVR.

You should here a seamless and indistinguishable sound, you wouldn’t be able to tell if it’s the left centre surround the right, yes confusing is what it would be. Give it a try you might start wondering and might have a few questions on your mind.

I don't quite know what you're asking... the garage isn't level where the crack is.

I must say, the oak trim with a cherry stain gave the speakers a firm, get soft sound signature.

Sheep, I just noticed that your stands are painted black, and there's an area off to the left that looks like is has black paint on it except for a roughly square shape like the bottom of the stands. So, it looked to me like you had the stands sitting there and painted them, and some paint got on the floor.

New Rears!

A few weeks ago I received a PM from a member asking a couple questions on Energy loudspeakers. I answered and hadn't heard back. A few days ago I received a message in return saying how he could give me a deal on all Energy speakers at Futureshop (due to a friend). What kind of deal? Upwards of 75% off. Because of this, I was in a position to upgrade my rear speakers to match my Energy front speakers (although not the same line, but the line that replaced it).

I owe this upgrade solely to him, and I thank you, so very much. Now I need to buy mounts. And the sick thing is, the mounts cost more then what I paid for the speakers.

The speakers are the Energy C-50 bookshelf speakers. Pictures below.
