Hi all,

I bought Marantz SR7005, Pair of Klipsch RF 82II and single SVS SB-13. I am looking to construct my first HT system, I will start with 2.1 then add three more speakers at the end of this year. Right now, I would like to use my current setting for watching movies and TV shows 70:30 ratio. What are the best setting for my speakers? How do I position my speakers? How do I get the maximum efficiency from my speakers for movies?

Thanks in advance

Set speakers to Small, Crossover to 80Hz.

Place speakers as far away from walls as logistically possible.

Toe them in slightly, like 20 degrees.

For a single subwoofer, place it as close to center as possible.

Hot Dog!! you went big for your first HT. Acu Def Tech Guy hit the nail right on the head.

I should mention that you should set the crossover to the max on the back of you sub woofer also.

There is a rule of thumb with how to set distance between the speakers.

They should be set apart from each other at least 3/4 the distance up to to total distance from your listening position

Now listen to your favorite album, and hear things you never heard before!!

Thanks for your kind respond; that was easier than i thought.

This unit has a mic do I need to make measurement or this only required for 5.1 system??

I was going to suggest... follow the instructions in your manual for set up using Audyssey. You can set up for 2.1 by skipping unused channels. It will measure your room acoustics and give you the best possible (supposedly) adjustments. You can also manually fine adjust it later if you like.

I recently set up my Marantz SR-6005 and it was fairly easy. So far, I'm happy with the results, but I haven't spent too much time with critical listening yet.

P.S. I highly recommend using an adjustable camera tri-pod for the mic during set up.
