Series IV Bose Theater issue

My analog Harmon Kardon receiver ( approx 15 years old) is set up with Bose Accustimass 10 series IV woofer and ss speakers. We recently bought smart TV-Sony and are using ROKU. We have noticed a gradual buzz, humm and general squealling sounds from the speakers. I have disconnected receiver and now using TV speakers only. How to figure out if speakers going bad or the receiver, or both? Is there any way to salvage and use any parts by adding a new element?

Your receiver is hooked up to the bose speakers only via the Bose powered bass module? Sounds more like an amp issue than a speaker issue. Could be your receiver but I'd suspect more the bass module thing. You can try to hook up the satellite speakers to the receiver directly to see if the issue goes away, but that would entail changing the connectors since Bose doesn't use standard speaker connections.
