How much of step up from 558?

I haven't heard these yet. Some have said they are a step up. It's the newer/improved?, 1 spot higher up set. I still wouldn't grab these because I doubt it's a big enough improvement over the 558's. I'd save up for the MD HD6XX, and get a real upgrade. I still use a set of HD558's. They sound good, are comfy, and I don't have to worry about them. I had upgraded to HD600 which are a clearly better. These should make a great 1st set though. The HD558's use to hover around $100, and go on sale for $80.

They should be upgrade to HD558 but I would also save the money towards HD600/HD6XX.
