As you will probably note, I am a newbie here. I am probably going to ask some stupid questions and possibly irratate a few with my questions that Im sure have been asked before. I appologise in advance
With that said, I am looking for a DVD player/recorder. I know what I want and I will try to explain this as best I can and maybe we can go from there. What I want probably doesnt exist, but if it does, im sure im in the right place to find it.
Im looking for a DVD player and recorder (single disc), which is region-free. (Ive seen some that come region-free and Ive seen some where you can buy some sort of "upgrade" to make an existing player region-free). Another MUST is progressive-scan.
Other than that, Im pretty much in the dark about everything else. I know that Blu-Ray is getting big, but the time isnt right to invest in a Blu-Ray player just yet. I dont want "top of the line" cause my budget wont let me, but I dont want some piece of crap that breaks after a month. Ive been looking at Pioneer, Hitachi, Denon (ha ha on budget there!), Toshiba and Panasonic.
So, any opinions on a quality, fair priced unit that has what I want? Anything close?
