You may have a defective sub but you take it as a perfectly good working sub. Since you didn't work with Rythmik to solve your problem, I'm not holding much value of your opinion for that sub. I've had many a friends over and they are totally blown away with the performance and when I mentioned the price, they stand their flabbergasted.
Did you try a vtf2 in your room? I'm not saying its a terrible sub, its a fine sub for the money, but for my ht I like the vtf2's.. I was expecting to be blown away by the lv12, that is where I went wrong, too high of expectations, makes the let down an even further drop... I heard another rythmik {that I don't own}and it was the same, decent but not as good as the HSU, there is nothing wrong with the sub I got, just not as good as the vtf2, what was I supposed to call Rythmik up and say "why is your sub not as good as the vtf2?" , kind of insulting since they never made that claim....

Do I really have to hunt down the posts where you state that :1) the sub has mechanical sound and 2). it bottoms out too easily? Both of these sounds I've yet to experience on my sub. A mechanical sound indicates a motor problem with the driver. Have you worked with Rythmik to solve that issue? That's the point I'm getting at. I never suggested you call Rythmik and insult them like you have done on some posts here.

I didn't insult them on here, just stated it didn't live up to the hype, the couple that own them rave, then when I get it, the old vtf2 is better, not my fault... And what I thought was a mechanical noise was just the sub working because the other one I head does the same thing when pushed hard, Im not saying it sounds like a car crash just a port noise or something... Others have pm'd me and said they also were not crazy about the sub either asking me about the vtf2, everyone I recommend the vtf2 to, loves it...
Dig up the NO NO NO Rythmik thread, you will see after my initial post, I say its a good sub, and the same thing I always say that it is just not what i expected, and can be a fine sub... You didn't answer my question about ever hearing the vtf2? How can you say I am wrong about the lv12 when you never heard the vtf2? I actually compared them in the same room at the same time......

Also the grille keeps falling off my mothers sub when they do use it, I double sided taped it and never mentioned it here.... Are you getting a kickback for every lv12 sold, lol.. you take this awfully personal,

Wow, I was so sure I needed a ported sub, now Im not so sure. Been on the market for a B-Stock or used light subwoofer (not over 80 shipped) and was very worried about getting a sealed one because of the output. But yeah, turns out I live in an apartment and I'll rarely really crank up the volume that much. Besides, I care a LOT about distortion. It would be mainly used for games and movies, and about 25% for music.

Imcloud, you seem to be greatly over-estimating the purity of music production if you think movie sound is so lacking in authenticity. A lot of fluffing is done to make music recordings sound better than what was first recorded. A lot of sounds added and a lot subtracted. [snip]
OK that might be an exaggeration, but just spend some time with a sound engineer. Look how any widely released piece of music goes from the mic to the master print. The original recorded sound is always heavily altered.
If you're talking about popular music I agree with you. For jazz and classical music, not at all.
