I'm buying a new HT in a month. I prefer not to mention the one I have today..!!
After a lot of research and reading on this forum, I come here to ask for HELP. There are some points to be mentioned:
1- I want a 7.1 system
2- I'm thinking of a Yamaha RX-V1800
3- I live in an apartment and there isn't enough space for bookshelfs ( unless really small ones )
4- Probably I'll have to buy satellite speakers, but looking for the best ones between $ 2000 - 2500, including subwoofer

I was looking into polks. There is the VM10 speaker but there is only one review about these speaker. It is not that small ( 11" H x 4-1/8" W x 4-1/4" D
( 27.94cm H x 10.48cm W x 10.79cm D ), but is the max. size I can use. I was told to buy VM10 for surrounds also. Thinking of a polk DSW500 for sub.
I'm really lost, and without options due to the size of the speakers but want to buy high quality speakers.
Please, help me guys !!
PS: sorry for my terrible english !

I would never spend that much on a satellite system, even if it`s a good one.

By the way, a V1800 is waaaaay overkill for satellites. Are you planning to updrate later on?

Maybe in two years I'll be able to upgrade the speakers as I'm moving to a house. I live in Brazil and receivers and speakers are prohibitive here. They cost 3x more ! I'm going to New York in a month and plan to buy all there. So here I would have to spend around U$ 6000,00 on satellite speakers, making it easy to spend $ 2000,00 on NY.
Thanks !

I also thought about Jamo speakers. What about the C 601 for the fronts, C 60 CEN for the center and Jamo A 340 for the surrounds ? Would they match ? Is there any problem to use with the Yamaha RX-V1800 since they are all 6 ohms ?
Thanks !

I totally agree.

Speaker options

In your budget, I would look into on-wall or in-wall/in-ceiling speakers for much better performance than small sateilite speakers.

Alternately, scale back the budget for the speakers and eletronics.

These speakers from Definitive Technology look great. To be sincere I haven't heard Def Tech yet. Are these speakers really good ? What would you choose: these Def. Tech or the Jamo A 340 ? ( couldn't post the link )

Thanks for the suggestion !!

After more research, I've narrowed my options. I came up with this:

1) Jamo A 340 for all + A 3CEN.4 for center + sub

2) Definitive Technology Procinema 1000 (upgrading the center to the 2000)

3) Canton CD 310 F for all + CD 360 F for the center + sub

I'd like to know what you think about these choices and any suggentions are welcome !
I'd also like suggestions for the subs.
Thanks !
