Samsung BD-UP5000??

Hello everyone! This is Joe from Orange County, New York. (Like "Orange County Choppers"). I just completed the construction of my new home theater. I had the basement split into two seperate rooms that measure 10 X 20 each. I wanted my home theater room to be bigger, but the support poles for the house are right down the middle of the basement, so I just used 2 x 6's and enclosed them inside the dividing wall. Anyway, the room came out better than I had hoped. Since the ceiling is only 7 feet high, I just got away with a 6 1/2 inch riser, and I now have 2 rows of 2 seats. I know it's only 4 seats in total, but had to work with what I had. I've got my new Plasma mounted (Samsung FP-T6374) and the regular HD 1080i broadcast from my local cable provider(Cablevision) is fantastic. This new Plasma from Samsung has the tightest images, and most vibrant colors I have ever seen!, no matter what I am watching! I just completed filling my A/V gear shopping list after 2 years of saving and researching, and here it is. Onkyo TX-SR875 Receiver, the above mentioned Plasma, Yamaha C750 DVD/CD/SACD player,an Audio Technica direct drive turntable, Tannoy DC 2's for my front left and right's, Tannoy Arena Highline
500C-for front center, and 4 Tannoy Arena Highline 500 sattelites for the side-left and right's and the rear-left and right's, my sub is an Aperion Audio Intimus S-12, and I bought 4 ButtKicker Mini-Lfe's and the BK-10004A that powers them. The only thing hooked up so far is the Plasma.(I couldn't help myself) The only thing missing is my High Def DVD Player. I am desperately awaiting the release of the new Samsung BD-UP5000. I refuse to buy 2 seperate players, and I still can't figure out who is going to win the format war, especially since Universal/Dreamworks did there thing a few weeks ago. So I have no choice but to go with the new Samsung dual format player, and then just use the Yamaha C750 for all audio playback.
Does anyone out there have the inside scoop on The When, and the how much for the Samsung BD-UP5000?? I know I took the long way to get to my real question, but only this forum's members could truly appreciate all of my new toys the way I do! My family just doesn't get it! I am 43 going on 10 all over again!!

Welcome Joe,

You have picked the wrong thing to spend your money on. Take it all back and get a OCC, if you cant afford an OCC then get a Iron Horse. You are 43 and its time to get out of the hosue and enjoy the open road!

It looks like you have picked out some good gear so enjoy it. I have no idea about the dual format stuff, if it were me, I would get a PS3 and a A-2 HD DVD player. When BR wins the war you can use the A-2 as a dedicated CD player.

It's supposed to be around $999 or $1049 retail.

Thanks for the OCC suggestion Greg, but after my kidney transplant 4 years ago, my legs got real weak, and the Doc said NO BIKES for me!! So any and all sports playing, and Chopper Dreams went bye bye. This has been my new Love ever since they put the chains on me. Can't say it was a bad trade though. Still want to hold out for the dual format player though. Besides, my buddy is putting in the thermal cooled rack for me, and he said he is only able to leave me one empty rack space for the addition of my Hi-Def DVD player later on. BTW, The new Samsung FP-T6374 is a 1080P HDTV Plasma. It's not as sweet to look at as the Deuce I was going to buy, but it's a close second!

The pics of the new home theater will come as soon as my buddy is done with the thermal rack he is putting in for me. He pre-wired this room for anything you could think of, and more! Alot of the different stages of this project(from when my basement had the old dropped ceiling with the fiberglass ceiling tiles on a grid)are on digital photos that I downloaded onto my now, retired and put out to pasture, laptop, and my new laptop. So I have to fire up my senior citizen laptop one more time, and transfer it's photos to my new and full of more problems than ever, laptop. This was definitely a project with efforts put in by many different family members and friends, and one very close friend. If it weren't for that close friend, I would still be saving for more than half of the gear, I now have, and still trying to figure out the pre-wire aspect of this job! The waiting and saving time I put in(2 years now), allowed me to research and find, the very best deals out there, on every piece of construction material I purchased. I even managed to get my 4 sconces at $50.00 a piece, at Lowes, after I matchd them up, almost exactly, with the one's I had priced out for $325.00 a piece, at a speciality lighting store in Pomtom Lakes, NJ!
The close friend I speak of, Doug, runs his own Pro-A/V-Commercial-A/V-Company(Spectrum AVS-Falls Church, VA.), and if you've been to places like the Gallway Hooker for happy hour in Manhatten (Biggest Projection Screen In NYC, and what a sound system!!) or the Smithsonian in Washington, D.C. , chances are you've seen some of his fine and versatile work.(We chased girls around back in Highschool, and 25 years later, he's helping me chase down my 2nd favorite passion! Pretty cool, no?) Well anyway, being as busy as he is, my work gets done when his schedule allows. It's a pain in the butt, having to wait, but the quality of his work is top notch, and it's been well worth the wait!
