I will never even try to compete with warpdrv on subwoofers.:D
Yeah he's a showoff. Oh look my TC Sounds driver subs. Oh look at my FW sub. How about my garage full of motorcycles and 4-wheelers. No big deal it's cool.

I'm not jealous at all.

ADTG, I'm surprised with all that gear you got in there that you don't have a couple of killer subs along side of them.

What's the deal with that!?!?! :D
Well, I guess I'm not a big Subwoofer guy.

Sure, I like tight (Q=0.5), deep, clean, articulate, powerful, earthquake bass.

But I'm already getting it with one Rythmik D15SE sub. I just don't see the point of getting "MORE" than that if I already have that.

To me, it's like trying to get a subwoofer that can output 150dBA @ 10Hz, when all I care about is 90dBA @ 20Hz.

So, I'm just not a big subwoofer-kind of guy.:D

BTW, What's up with the dual recievers?
**hee**hee

I may NOT be a "big" subwoofer kind of guy, but I am a big "symmetry" kind of guy.

I bought the AVR-5308 at first.

Then after a couple of years, I had upgraditis and got the AVP-A1HDCI. I didn't want to sell my 5308. So I kept both.

I also like redundancy - you know, like backing up your hard drives.:D

Just in case one goes out, I have a second for backup.:D

What do you mean? He has a D15SE...
I don't really consider a D15 SE a "killer sub" - I'm thinking more along the lines of a Submersive HP, a PB13, a DTS-10 or something like a THT. I just thought it was amusing that ADTG had a 5308 AND an AVP-A1HDCI but just one sub. :p

Two reasons:

1) The lower you get in frequency, the less we can actually perceive these near-subsonic etc frequencies. That's why they are mixed so high in level
2) It's impossible to get flat response with just one subwoofer... too many response nulls and peaks throughout the room. At best you can tame peaks at one seating position with EQ but that's it.

To me, it's like trying to get a subwoofer that can output 150dBA @ 10Hz, when all I care about is 90dBA @ 20Hz.
90db at 20hz is pointless. You need around 110+db at 20hz before it's even perceivable.

Okay, what about 28Hz @ 90dB?:D

Man, are you trying to convince me I need to put another D15SE behind my rack?:D

You are just pure evil.:D

We're not trying to convince you to put another D15SE behind your gear rack.

We're trying to convince you to put THREE MORE D15SE's behind your gear rack. :p

C'mon, you know you can't resist the sub 20hz darkside!

Evil? I'm being thoughtful. :D

And yes, you need at least one, if not two or three more! :D

Then you can center the bass properly, make it increasingly difficult to localize and more enveloping.
You can get flat frequency response at frequencies where it's difficult.
You can get quicker decay of notes where even now you're getting a little bit of monopole overhang.
You know you waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaant it.

Oh a $1000 ID sub isn't considered a "killer sub" huh? Would you consider it a good sub? I'm 100% honest when I say I rather have a Rythmik F25 or FV15HP over an SVS sub. Simply because I like the looks better. I agree with the SUbmersive HP. Next to FW, he makes the best best looking subs. BUT, to criticize someone for not having a $2500 sub is even more amusing. I'd say that any ID sub that costs a $1000, is a pretty killer sub. It's all relative....I'm sure there are other subs out there that are better than the SUbmersiveHP...but you would probably consider them super duper killer subs then, right?

IMO, no, not compared to ID subs that are double or more the price or DIY models that use horns.

Would you consider it a good sub?
Yes, I would

Good to know. I'm 100% sure I didn't ask for your opinion on sub aesthetics though.

BUT, to criticize someone for not having a $2500 sub is even more amusing.
You really need to learn the difference between some friendly ball busting and criticizing. I just thought it was pretty amusing that someone who had so much in receivers/processors only had a single sub, and one for around $1000 at that. It was not said in a malicious way, which you obviously missed.

I'd say that any ID sub that costs a $1000, is a pretty killer sub.
Again, that's your opinion, which in this case, is just as relevant as mine.

It's all relative....
First smart thing you've said...

I'm sure there are other subs out there that are better than the Submersive HP...
I'm sure there are too.

but you would probably consider them super duper killer subs then, right?
No, actually my next three levels after that are:

- Monster bass subs
- the "Honey, it broke my SPL meter" subs
- and the "Congrats, you just tripped the Richter scale" subs

Please. Stop with your nonsense - you just look foolish.

I suppose everyone has a different definition of a killer sub.:D

My definition of a killer sub is a $16,000 KEF Reference 18" sub or Revel Ultima2 Rhythm2 18" sub.

They kill the heck out of your wallet.:D

That new Paradigm sub isn't a killer sub since it's only $9K.

In the mean time, I'm going to enjoy the heck out of my almost-killer single Rythmik sub.:D

Inception

I watched "Inception" BD again Last night to test the D15SE.

The bass was absolutely incredible; it rattled the heck out of the glass panels on my double-doors, which I normally close to contain the sound.

I was afraid it would break those glass panels (each door has 8 glass panels), so I opened the doors.:D

And I even had the LIMITER ON, RUMBLE FILTER ON, BASS EXTENSION to 28HZ, and HIGH DAMPING.

On the Denon, I set the THX Ultra2 Subwoofer setting to ON and Boundary Gain Compensation (BGC) to OFF.

Note To Self: NOT GLASS PANELS ON FUTURE HT ROOM. :D

I think your room has a null exactly where my voice is!

If only you had three subs, them you could hear me!

LMAO LMAO LMAO LMAO !!!
This conversation is very funny...
Especially the last 2 remarks - I was laughing in tears.

Well well well
I had a 2k$ REL 505 sub from Magnolia Hi-Fi (see my signature).
Your Rythmik 15 SE runs circles around the REL 505.
I do think it is a killer. For a 1100$.
