I'am going to turn to HDMI now. What receiver will be comparable to this one that i currently own. The RX-V1400. I love it, it is powerful enough for me and it does everything that I need. The only difference is, I ve had it for about 7 years now and I want HDMI I/O. I see some HTR receivers at costco fr 225.00, the HTR-6140, but its only 5.1 and the power output is less, but it does have 2 HDMI I/O. But I feel as though I would be downgrading. What would be comparable? Thanks. I onle need HDMI for my Direct TV, BlueRay player, no gaming necessary.

If 5.1 is all you need the 6140 should be fine since its rated power is only about 1 db less than the 1400. No big deal.

The 1400 is 7.1 I believe, I Dont want anything less than what the 1400 has to offer.

If you're running less than 6 speakers off of the 1400, then a 7.1 channel receiver is unnecessary. Which in-wall speaker models are you running? If you really want 7.1 then look at an HTR-6160 or RX-V663. If you want more power then go to the 6180 or 863.

I was in the same boat as the OP, except I had a RX-V2400. I ended up going with the Pioneer Elite VSX-01TXH. It gives up nothing to the Yamaha in sound quality or power and allows me to enjoy HDMI switching and the new high-resolution audio codecs. The only issue I have with going with the Pioneer is the two in-wall presence speakers that are not supported on the VSX-01.
