Is that where he is hiding behind that very long table? I would have thought he might be in his billion-dollar mansion.
Oh, and he keeps his distance from everyone, just look at the tables. You only have to see Lavrov sitting, what 50 ft away?

How will they get it inside Ukraine?
I think they will find ways .... the Stinger missiles changed the nature of the war in Afghanistan and sent the Russians back on their barricades....

There is only one end result here, a stronger Ukraine. Putin is the Hitler of the 21st century

Is this subject even worth discussing on these forums? I wish I could avoid it but it's not possible.
There is a massive war going on in Europe, kindergardens are being attacked by missiles, Ambulances are under fire from rocket launchers, a whole country of citizens have to seek shelter ....

Russia has invaded a country with all their military power, killing civilians and demolishing cities across the countries, probably the only way to stop this is to block everything russian and send russia economically back to the stone age.

This is not a war by russian people, but a war by one crazy guy,
unfortunately all of Russia will possibly pay for this for decades to come

I don't want to go into this in depth it will derail the thread. Perhaps a new thread on the subject perhaps a thread challenging democrats to prove what Gene said that the majority of the Republican Party media etc support Putin.

It will go off the rails but will be interesting have good conversation at first but won't derail this thread.

But I promised you I'd provide links and an answer so I'll do my best being as brief as I can

This is just one of many and there not all with Tucker.

But the tone was and is consistent among all of them. (We should stay out of it. We should respect Russias sovereignty we shouldn't commit Troops onto this conflict "(which Biden has said he won't do mind you)". America being the police force for Europe will just do us more harm. The risk to our economy from inflation. Ukraine didn't respect the sovereignty of 2 factions in there country and did the same thing to them somehow implying that that makes it okay for Russia to do it too. Basically a tone among some right wing media and conservatives that rings of the isolationism ideas that held America back from acting in the previous great conflicts until they were pulled into the fight

Do I agree with everything @gene said not exactly. He's right about Right wing politicians and media they were saying this. BUT I don't believe the true average Republican voter feels this way.

Just like they didn't agree with policy on Covid or Trumps theatrics about bullsh$t elections. It took Republican support to give Biden the numbers he had in the last election. And I know a lot of Repubs who don't agree with the choice Putin made to go to war. Keep shi$$ing on Republicans and you risk losing that support if dems keep comparing a true conservative with these new radical right Trumptards that have sprung alive the last few years. I mean is it fair to compare a far left radical woke progressive with a true liberal? No of course not.

1) right wing media and politicians need to quit the disenginuity because they were saying this sh$t then switching conveniently over to putting it all on Biden after Putin made his choice by committing war. Now they want to be all in based on the sentiment of average people and the world and to that I call bullsh$t on the right.

2. This isn't a left or right thing anymore and Biden is in an incredibly difficult position considering a big chunk of it was egged on by Nato. Nato pushed and I do believe on certain issues blundered on how far Putin was willing to go on these issues. But that can't all be put on Biden like some Repubs are trying to do. And it doesn't matter anymore Putin has pushed it past that. His policies and China's by proxy need to get dealt with.

3. As much as I hate Democrats going to Trump as there default to avoid policy questions I hate even more the hero worship some parts of the Republican base gives this guy. They act like he's the second coming of Jesus Christ.

Trumps such a fu$%in idiot his comments on Putin being another example of a long list of infractions. And I GET what he was trying to do. Call Biden out on weak sanctions that weren't going to work against an obviously smart savvy and dangerous opponent. But could you start that off with a disclaimer please? Like Putin is 100% out of line and I stand against him but here's the point I'm trying to make. But no he cant because of his many faults with ego and common sense. Trump just makes it SO EASY to take the things he says out of context which makes it harder for the rest of us conservatives to spin damage control. These reasons make him unfit to me to be an effective president to be MY president

Instead he does what @Alex2507 was saying awhile back. Can you show respect to your enemies capabilities without making it sound like your polishing off his knob in the back room?

I'm not saying that's you @John Parks I'm just making my points and expressing how I feel

I'm sorry for the length. This is a difficult complex situation to try to answer it all in short form on this format style on this forum
On Republicans.....

It isn't your principles; it's your lack of principles.

What happens here is way scarier that possibly imaginable .... there are very strong fights going on around some of the largest nuclear power plants in Europe, the largest nuclear power plant of Europe is outside city of Zaporizhzhia.... there is imminent fear that the war and fights may possibly disrupt the operational procedures and security of a nuclear power plant.

A possible loss of power and failure of safekeeping operational procedures could possibly worst case give us a nuclear power plant meltdown!

How about we take care of one Hitler at a time? This is Putin's time as his internal support erodes.
Side note, Elon Musk will be known as one of the outside "hero's" of this war for getting Starlink up.
Yesh, Putler must be stopped and for you guys in US thinking it does not concern you.... I think you are dead wrong.

Putler is setting his nuclear arsenal forces into red alert, which means he is now starting to put his finger close to the intercontinental nuclear rocket triggers.....

Seriously, I have no life.
Heraldo is absolutely correct. This is a very dangerous situation.

This is a pivotal event for the world. This will forever change life for everyone. This is a before and after event.

Things are not going as well as expected for Russia.

This is one of 146 Russian tanks believed to have been destroyed so far.

There are so many dead Russian soldiers, that Russia has asked for help to repatriate the bodies of dead soldiers from an international organization. On the other hand Russia has plans to incinerate its own dead soldiers in mobile crematoria.

Putin has put his whole nuclear arsenal on high alert. This a signal he is prepared to use it, if things do not go his way.

The Ukrainians have agreed to peace envoys meeting in Belarus. Not clear at what level this is taking place.

The UK has given the UK to its citizens joining Ukrainian forces to assist them in their fight. The UK is also sending a large number of Stinger shoulder fired missiles, which have proved very effective against Russian aircraft.

The world's geopolitical axis has shifted in way that will not return to further alignments.

The US and all European nations are going to have to massively increase defense spending and armaments. Europe will have to really step up as the US pivots to the Pacific to confront China's ambitions, especially as far as Taiwan is concerned.

The impact on the world's monetary system is going to immense, and on a scale hard to reckon currently. This will precipitate long tern changes in international finance and how money flows.

Lastly this will take the mask off the renewable energy fantasy. We will no longer have access to Russian energy sources. So there will be e temporary return to fossil fuel exploration in the free world. There will have to be a massive expansion and building of nuclear power plants in Europe and the US. Anyone who thinks we can power this economy on wind mills and solar panels and go to net zero is in a delusional fantasy world.

The challenges ahead are immense and will create a massive turning point for the whole world.

Putin has smashed the shaky supports from thousands of very shaky stools in one fell swoop.

We have been in a fantasy land and are going to return to reality with a very hard bump. It will not be without pain, which will ignite with lightening speed around the globe.

The US is a country with an unruly population united mainly by a piece of paper and a flag. On the contrary, most in the US know it is of grave concern, fully support the Ukraine, but know our leaders should never have let this become a shooting war.
Right now, we have to follow our current president's lead in this crisis and hope for the best for you.
It might interest you to know, the NYC area has the largest Ukrainian population in the US. Apparently many, and a few ex US military, have taken planes to join the fight.

I think Putin sooner or later is going to have trouble in his own country with the young generation that is against any war. I just hope they give him so much trouble that he might abandon his insistence in expanding his territory.
I've seen editorials saying essentially the same as you. I certainly hope it is true, but it might be too optimistic to expect it to happen soon. I hope that Russian people would overthrow Putin and end his tyranny. But I don't expect it to happen soon – or easily.

Haraldo is right. If Putler (I like the combined names) is alerting his nuclear arsenal, we have to take it as a serious threat to anyone in range of his weapons. That includes us. The most basic military intelligence principle says you must judge an enemy only by his capabilities – not by his intentions. Right now, we can trust Putler as much as we trust Kim Jong-un.

Putler earlier stated that if US and EU are unfriendly to Russia in this situation, the consequences will be something not seen before in world history.

What this “something“ may be is unclear to me but I don’t think it is inviting world leaders to a tea party!

A beginning.

>>>
Chancellor Olaf Scholz on Sunday announced a major boost to German military spending — the latest in a series of dramatic policy shifts by Berlin in response to Russia’s war on Ukraine.

Speaking at an emergency session of the German parliament to discuss the war, Scholz said that his government would set up a special €100 billion fund to swiftly upgrade its armed forces and that Germany will in future adhere to the NATO goal of spending 2 percent of GDP on defense.

Describing Russia’s invasion of Ukraine as “a turning point in the history of our Continent,” Scholz told lawmakers that “it is clear that we need to invest significantly more in the security of our country in order to protect our freedom and our democracy.”

“We will from now on, year for year, invest more than 2 percent of our gross domestic product in our defense,” Scholz said. His remarks were met with loud applause by lawmakers.

Germany currently spends around 1.5 percent of GDP on defense and the current coalition government had previously been reluctant to commit to the 2 percent target, despite pleas from NATO allies.

The US as already made dangerous misjudgments. History tells us you have to act early and decisively in these situations, with no dithering.

Joe Biden was blithering on about not going into Ukraine, so he would not start WW III. Well I have a reality check for old Joe. Putin has already started WW III.

Boris in response to Putler's thinly veiled nuclear threats, has informed them, that the UK already has enough nuclear Trident submarines, carrying enough nuclear weapons to destroy every major city in Russia. He did not leave much doubt these subs are cocked and ready in an instant. Two can play the fear game.

The Ukrainians will fight with vigor as they are fighting "For Hearth and Home." That is what Elizabeth the first said in a speech at Tilbury on the Thames as the Spanish Armada left Cadiz and was making its way up the channel. She told the population to arm to the teeth with any weapons they could grab. Well, we all know what happened, only one ship of that massive fleet ever returned to Cadiz. So don't under rate the intensity with which the Ukrainians will fight to defend "Hearth and Home."
