I don't think NATO membership was really the best way for the Ukraine to protect itself.
In 1994, they were the third largest holder of nuclear weapons in the world.
Tucker.....
-who cares if Ukraine is a democracy
-why do I care what Russia thinks?!
-why is it disloyal to cheer for Russia but not ok for Ukraine?
-why can't I cheer for Russia, which I am? ;)

I just stumbled across this. Its a very interesting read where Gorbachev decided to dismantle the USSR if NATO agreed to stop adding new countries into NATO and on Russia's doorstep. Clearly this has not been honored as 14ish countries joined NATO since this agreement was made. The question I have is Putin using this as an excuse to roll into Ukranaine or is he just being a power hungry f?cktard?

It's not quite that simple, apparently. While some diplomats had made verbal assurances to the Russians, there was nothing "on paper". While I can appreciate Russian resentment on the issue, it's their own behavior that has driven ex-Warsaw Pact countries into the arms of the West, including NATO.

Is it as simple as you are stating or is there more to it that you do not want to or cannot divuldge? These werent diplomats but leaders of countries. Not honouring a gentlemen's agreement leaves a bad taste in everyone's mouth. The thing is that everything needs to be put on the table when honestly trying to brocur a deal. Dont get me wrong. Im no fan of Putin by any stretch of the imagination. He's definately a ruthless coward and has demonstrated this many times over . Having read this article expands the fault of this crisis to both east and west in my mind.

Seriously, I have no life.
So, you saw her actually praising Putin and Hitler? Didn't she just condemn Putin and Russia in the clip provided? Kind of goes against their narrative and I am surprised they actually included it. "MTG is pro Putin!" "I am against Putin and condemn his actions." "See, she admits it!"
Oh, she denounced Putin after the fact, yet she watched and heard the host or whoever he was praising Putin to no end with the crowd cheering him on, and she stayed.
How convenient.

All too true. I think NATO enlargement helps Putin sell the action in the Ukraine to the Russian people.
The Ukrainians themselves were screwed by the West with the Budapest Memo in 1994. There were no explicit guarantees and historians as well as the participants have been arguing this point since then.
Ultimately, it was the Ukrainian leadership's fault at the time for giving up their nuclear weapons with out a strict guarantee by Clinton and Major (UK PM). As Otter said to Flounder, "hey you f*cked up, you trusted us"..
They should have never taken that deal presented by a craven West.

Don't think any Nuclear power has ever been invaded since 1945.
I think Col. Gaddafi regrets doing it too from whatever hell he is dwelling in.
Don't think the Mullahs in Iran don't know this lesson as well as we Re Re Re negotiate the Iran deal....

I think Putin showing his real coward face and attitude…. He moved to Ural mountains while Zelinskiyj stay in Kyiv with his people, his government and his city under attack
Is that where he is hiding behind that very long table? I would have thought he might be in his billion-dollar mansion.
Oh, and he keeps his distance from everyone, just look at the tables. You only have to see Lavrov sitting, what 50 ft away?

Germany will send weaponry to Ukraine, a major shift that could help Kyiv resist Russia
By Michael Birnbaum1:47 p.m.

Germany on Saturday announced plans to send 1,000 anti-tank weapons and 500 Stinger missiles to Ukraine, a major shift in post-World War II German defense policy that marked a significant escalation in Europe’s military support for Kyiv.

“The Russian invasion marks the turning of an era. It is our duty to support Ukraine to the best of our ability in defending against Putin’s invading army," German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said in a statement.
The decision was a significant reversal after months of foot-dragging from Berlin about military support for Ukraine. Until Saturday, German leaders had refused to send lethal weaponry and had also blocked other countries from doing so with German-made armaments. Under pressure, they earlier agreed to send helmets and a field hospital, a decision for which they were mocked.

Germany has rarely sent weapons into conflicts, a longstanding political taboo that is related to its guilt over World War II. (Detractors note that the German defense industry has nevertheless sold extensive armaments to authoritarian leaders around the world.) The country has been especially cautious about sending weapons that would be used against Russia, one of its World War II-era opponents and a country that many Germans partly credit for their liberation.

That meant that Saturday’s move was especially notable. It could open a flood of German-made armaments from other countries to Ukraine as well. Earlier in the day, the country had already signed off on the Netherlands’s sending 400 German-made rocket-propelled grenade launchers to Kyiv.

The 400 RPG launchers are currently owned by the Dutch government but were manufactured in Germany; when Germany sells or transfers its weaponry to other countries, it retains control over whether those arms get moved elsewhere.

How will they get it inside Ukraine?

Agreed but investigating the money trail will find it.
A computer hacker did that in Panama, I believe, a number of years ago where he had $2 billion. Hopefully, better hackers will find all of it.
Close down his real estates. When the tax is overdue, sell it for peanuts to whomever. :)

And all his million followers, of course.
People have the option to change the channel.
Multiply his millions of followers by .4 and that equals the number of Democrats who watch his show.
There are other hosts on at 8 pm...

Wasn't Russia invited or was considered into NATO but did not accept?

Pandora Papers leaked last year. Lot's of interesting names and countries.
"An estimated $32 trillion may be hidden from being taxed, according to reports"

Have not seen too much followup by the media though...?

They tried in 1994 at the time of the signing of the Budapest Memo. Clinton got them to sign the NATO Partnership for Peace program. That was supposed to provide military-to-military cooperation with Soviet bloc countries. It was viewed as a path to lead to NATO membership which happened for many of them.
Allegedly, Putin brought it up to Bush in the 2000s but was pushed off.
