rotel vs nad; entry level hifi av receivers...

all -

wondering what the collective thoughts are about rotel vs nad
av receivers go; both the nad T763 & the rotel RSX-1056 go
for about $1100-$1200 and seem to be a step above the
Denon/Marantz/Yamaha offerings, at least in terms of audio
quality (definatley not in features offered, the biggest being
built in parametric eq's/room tuning).

am i missing any other brand in that range (i would consider it
entry-level hifi gear)? any thoughts on those driving a pair
of dynaudio audience 72's?

thx!

I would recommend the Rotel. I have one and tested the NAD and Denon at the same time. I felt I got a cleaner sound for the speaker I also purchased. The other thing you need to consider is the features. which one has the features you want or need.

if "musicality" is what you care the most, NAD is significantly superioe in my opinion. I really wanted to purchase Rotel because so many people say good things about them, but then many also praise NAD. So I listened to both and the result, with no doubt in my mind, was that a NAD receiver sounds better than Rotel separates on the same speakers. I tested on classical and opera, there was just no comparison as far as fidelity was concerned. I know many might be surprised, hence ultimately my best advice for you is, take your fav's CD and go listen to both.

It may not be important, but I beg to differ. I own a T763 and think the learning remote is great. It is the first remote that even the wife can use.

the few reviews i've seen (actually of the t762, i haven't found
any reviews of the t763 out yet) say the remote is pretty good
& easy to use, but one man's trash is another mans treasure.

the rotel web site doesn't have alot of details, but it hints at
having digital para eq on it, something the NAD doesn't have.

i have a impression that NAD & rotel are considered in the
same group; good quality gear that sounds a step above
denon/yahama/marantz and good value as well.

I am happy to hear that you are happy with yours, because I have not lost all hope yet. I just find it very"weak" and it could be just my unit. Anyhow, I was considering giving it a try instead of using my universal.

I have Installed both Rotel and Nad.

I feel Rotel is a all around beter product. I like the way the Rotel sounds over the Nad.

Built quality I also feel is better with Rotel.

But in the end you need to listen to both, go over the features of both and figure out which is best for you.
