Well now that we got that all cleared up...

I have a question for the OP if he's still around...or I'm just getting in the middle of this for no reason...

Why are you looking to compare Rocket RS850's to the 5T's?

Now back to the regular posters...
becasue i have the 5t's and i am interested in the 850's....did not realize that there was a sale on the rockets......did not mean to compare apples to oranges......

Have you tried the 5T's with and without the grille? From the Stereophile review on Aperions, apparently the grille made a big difference in measured performance.

Why? What specifically makes you think these are better off than the Aperions? In fact, I believe Warpdrv had them, and compared them to the 850s.
Who said anything about the Aperions. I just would like to audition these two together vs. one another. Had nothing to do with the Aperions.

I thought Warp had the MBS bookshelf speakers.

What makes you think the SVS are worthy and the Aperions not?

I thought Warp had the full set, but I did not follow closely.

What is wrong with you tonight?

It has nothing to do with Aperion not being worthy.

I have auditioned the SVS and Rocket speakers, but not side by side. Yes My memory can tell me what they sounded like. But I auditioned in two different locations. I would like to audition them together is all I stated.

If your looking to "stir the pot" tonight, try AVS.

I think silver's point was what would indicate that these would be a fair comparison to the Rocket's whereas you comment about Aperion seemed to indicate the Aperion's would not be, when you have heard neither the SVS nor the Aperion's. I can see both sides here, but when I originally read your comment about being surprised if the Aperion's could match the Rocket's for sound quality without having heard them, the first thing that popped in my mind was "wow, he really doesn't like Aperion, or he really likes AV123, or both". Just trying to give an unbiased perspective...

Anyway, something more productive, can anyone find the specs for the MTS center speaker? I am looking for the dimensions specifically. Either their not easily found on the website, or I'm being stupid...

Do you even remember what you posted?

I have not heard the Aperion speakers. But I would be very surprised if they can match, or even compete in sound quality to the Rockets.
Not trying to stir the pot, just trying to understand how you think you are not biased with posts like this.

BTW, at AVS, you can stir the pot without even trying.

the 533t is not the same speaker as the 5t.....the 5t is the newer version of the 533t.....but to answer your question, i don't have permission to take the grilles off..... ;)

Understood, just wondering if the grilles made a difference. I know they are not the same speaker, but the grilles do look similar.

This is a very good point. After looking at the specs, I doubt the 5t's can compare to the 850's. At the same time I don't think it's fair to compare them, due to the price difference. To the OP, if you aren't satisfied with the 5t's, JUST GET THE 850's! I seriously doubt you will be disappointed. :D

Dude, you need to just let this go. Mazer is not criticizing Aperion. We have now established that the 2 speakers being compared are in different price classes and it's not even fair to compare the 5t's to the 850's!

I did buy a whole set of the SVS's, but they just didn't do it for me, so I sent them back... They were very nice speakers, but I like the Paradigm Sigs better.

Can't say anything positive or negative about the Aperions...

It looks like this thread has turned into one big argument... :(

To the OP.... you should audition these speakers if you can and make your own decisions...

Silversurfer, there is no point in arguing with the AV123/SVS clique. You cannot reason with them.

Having heard both, it's fair to say Aperions and Rockets sound very different. Aperions emphasize the higher frequencies and have a more reserved midrange. Rockets emphasize midrange and are more reserved up high. That's not to say you hear detail with the Aperions that you won't with the Rockets or you won't hear midrange with Aperions. it's just these speakers emphasize different things. Listen for yourself and decide.

That is exactly the kind of info I was looking for.

I was really not so much trying to compare the two in performance as I was wanting a comparison in the characteristics of the two. As I stated the Aperions sound great on the high end and the sub does a great job but I felt that the mids were coming up a little short. If the 850's emphasize more on the mids I am definately going to give them a listen.:)
