Picked it up last weekend and played it for a few hours on Saturday night.
Meh.
I finished the first chapter and wasn't all that excited. There are a few things that bug me about it.
1. The camera - I can't tell you how many times I was trying to run around to put some distance between myself and a monster and the camera would rotate and I would lose track of where the monster was. Very frustrating.
2. Silly things like using the lack of light for cheap scares. In the beginning you can see that Leon and his partner both have little lights attached to their ears that they use to see forward. Then there is a scene where you are in an elevator with 2 obviously infected people and conveniently when they turn into zombies those lights on your head are gone for some reason.
3. I guess the developers assume you know what you're doing but there was no manual with the game. While playing a person joined on me and started playing the other character. Not a huge deal but I didn't know the game was set up for that. There are a couple of settings that affect gameplay that aren't explained. For example there is something called "Agent Hunt". I had no idea what this was so I didn't turn it off. Apparently it allows online people to jump into your game and play as zombies to try and kill you. I wouldn't have known this if the guy that joined me hadn't told me. From now on I'll be turning that feature off.
So far I'm not that impressed. But I'll keep playing to see if it gets any better.
