I want to wall mount three idential bookshelf speakers against my black velvet wall.(PJ)
I'd like any and all reccomendations on bookshelves to audition and research.
~$750 budget for the front stage. If I must get 'just' L&R because the quality of a certain speaker is worth it, I'm fine with that and getting the center in a few more weeks from now.
Will still be using existing surrounds and SVS 20-39Pci sub.
Will be driving them with a Yamaha RX-V661.

Would help to know which towers you had.. that way we can get a base line as to what you're accustomed to.

You are correct. Bought them only ~2/3 months ago.
C-500's and C-C100 for the front stage..
Although they are crossed at 80hz and set to small in my 7.1 set-up, so I was thinking I wouldn't lose much with bookshelves? Aren't they only really providing the mids and highs?

I am willing to get just the front L&R for the $700/$750 and buy an identical for center a little later down the road. My main reason for thinking of doing this is I would like to hide the speakers a little and up the floor in front of my screen wall.

Crossing over your mains @ 80hz is fine for your home theater experience. As for 2 channel music listening I prefer only my mains. I am not familiar with your Yamaha but my receiver allows for a large/small setting and with/without sub option(which IMO is better for music) and I get the best of both worlds. So even with the 80hz x-over the speakers can run full range.

Good luck in your decision, Billy p:)

Yup, my Yamaha can do that as well. But even when listen to music I go 2.1 and keep them "small", as I love even exaggerated bass from my svs. So, I do not rely on my mains for any low end. Although the C-500's are very able.

The Rosewood finish are only $500 the other finishes would have cost $1500. I guess they have an overstock on the Rosewood finish or something. If I had $500 I would buy them.:D

With the money saved on the speakers (about $250) you could get an amplifier to drive them, as they aren't easy to drive. I would look at getting a Behringer A500

2x230 watts into 4 ohms, which will power the Onix Ref 1s with no problem.:)

Musician's Friend has the amplifier for $199.99 plus shipping.

The only problem with that is I want something black to fade away against the black velvet.

I could paint them, but....
I want black, the point is to fade them away into my PJ screen wall of black velvet.

OT - I have my Energy C-500's and C-C100 up for trade here for bookshelves.

I believe I read you were willing to just buy the mains for now, and add the center later. I recommended the same brand for that transition to go over smoothly, and also, you didn't seem to have any complaints about your current brand. The center I posted is a match for the new mains I posted.
