Refurbished Xboxes may allow hackers to steal credit card info

Came across an article that many might find interesting especially those of you that may consider trading in an Xbox, researchers at Drexel University has found a way to pull the original owners cc info off the HDD.

So are they retrieving the CC numbers of the xbox console itself or the hard drive?

You take out the hard drive before you send the console in for replacement. You don't receive a different hard drive when you get a refurbished console back which is different from the original you sent in.

It violates compliance for an Xbox to store your CC numbers. If this is true Xbox is gonna be in hot water.
