Hello, Audioholics!

This sort of request must have been answered before. Sorry. I am completely green when it comes to audio equipment. The lingo still escapes me, and I hope to learn while I lurk here.

I am making steps to start a new career in voice over. One of the last pieces of equipment I need for my Makeshift Studio is monitors. At this time I'm looking for accuracy, affordability and endurance.

My current setup is:

AKG C214 mic
Alesis MultiMix 4 (USB Mixer)

The mixer seems to want 1/4" connections to the monitors. So far I found a pair of KRK Rokit 5 rp5 G2's on eBay that look appropriate.

Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks in advance--y'all have a fine community.

Lots of choices. I like the JBL lsr series myself. You should be able to audition them and many other quality monitors at your local Guitar Center or similar musician/pro audio store. Such places may even have used merch for a song, be sure to check.

The Rokit series have a lot of positive reviews. I can't imagine you will go wrong with them. I have the Behringer 1030a and love them. The 1030a have the most flexible EQ shaping options in your price range.

You don't need to limit yourself to the 1/4 inch plug. There are balanced cables with TRS on one end and XLR on the other.

here a great reference in pro audio interconnects:

+1 on lsr rec (see my sig) and I never was big fan of RockIt - they have overly emphasized bass (unless you like too much bass)
