Don't expect any of the new models to last 15 years. They're just not built the same anymore. The Denon/Marantz room EQ is very good but they run super hot which I guess will shorten their lifespan.
Any AVR that is set inside of an enclosed shelf, but the front, will retain more heat. The heat sinks inside the AVR, have a purpose. I would think a later model AVR, will stand up very well. Having an AVR in an open environment, is ideal.
