thanks for any advice.

What is your budget and how big is your room?

With speakers that only go to 80Hz and 120Hz respectively, you don't really have to worry about having enough power, anything will drive them adequately.

You don't really have to. Which is not to say a speaker's power handling is irrelevant, just that it's not much of an issue in this context.

My budget is $1800 for both the speakers and receiver. The room size around 13 x 20.

Thanks

That's a pretty good budget and a decent size room. I'd take a look at the packages offered by SVS - a setup with the SCS-01s up front and SBS-01s out back with a PB-12 sub should run you around $1200 and leave you with plenty for a good receiver (speakers can all be wall mounted). This will easily best the package you are looking at for the price. http://www.svsound.com/products-spks-scs01.cfm

Me neither until i started hanging around this site. Check out the SVSound website.

Recommended to me was STS-01, SCS-01, SCS-01M, PB12-ND and an Onkyo receiver TX-SR707 (which can be had from 6avenue for $590)

I've owned a SVS sub and quality is something you won't have to worry about with them. They are well built and sound very good for the price. They are not a brand that most would have heard of as they basically only sell direct on the web. They are well known for their subs, but they started making speakers also a few years back.
