I recently ordered these speakers. 5.1 system with towers and an PB13 Ultra sub. Now I'm trying to figure out what I want to run them with. I have about a 2k budget give or take a little. Any suggestions? Should I go receiver or seperates? Probably spend my time between 75% music 25% movies. Thanks in advance.

Hi i have the same speakers as you and i asked Eric at SVS and he said they recomend the Denon 5308 or any of the 53 series although they are a bit expensive $4500 for the 5308, i am also going to upgrade from mine i have a Oonkyo 604 but i will say that these speakers sound awsome even with this reciver. I just feel that i can get ALOT more out of these if i have more than 90 watts a channel.

I would highly reccomend this amp

http://www.emotiva.com/ips1.html $899 + shipping ~$52

and this receiver

http://www.yamaha.com/yec/products/productdetail.html?CNTID=558291&CTID=5000300

or this receiver

http://www.onkyousa.com/model.cfm?m=TX-SR805&class=Receiver&p=i

or just that receiver alone will be powerful enough to drive those speakers as it's THX Ultra 2 certified.

Emotiva XPA-5 will be coming out shortly... for $699.00
5 X 200 WPC

Thats what I'm going to get for my MTS 5.0 system Right now, I'm running them off a Pioneer Elite 91, and they sound awesome, and they get plenty loud... I'm not sure If I really need an amp, but I just can't resist...

The Towers are rated at 6 ohms - Sensitivity 91dB - so fairly sensitive... They get loud, and stay very clear.

CC is 6 ohms at 89dB

Bookshelves are 8 ohms at 86dB

Emotiva

FYI,
The XPA-5 will be priced at $799 but that is still a lot of power for the money. If you can hold out until march or april, their new HDMI 1.3 pre-pro should be avilable.

Thanks for all the info so far. The Emotiva stuff sounds excellent. I sure would hate to sit on my speakers until March/April but that combo might be worth it. Maybe I can get something to hold me over. I currently deployed to Iraq and will be home in a couple weeks. Speakers should arrive mid Feb if I'm lucky. For some reason I can view these forums and even go to Emotiva's site but can not access their forums :/

Second vote for Onkyo TX-SR805, it'll drive those speakers just dandy.:)

You could get the IPS-1 which is only $200 more than what the XPA will be. I believe the IPS is a class H design.
