And mine:

* McIntosh
* Lexicon
* Arcam
* Rotel
* Nad
* Marantz
* Denon
* Integra
* Onkyo
* Yamaha
* Pioneer Elite
* Pioneer
* Sherwood Newcaslte
* Harman Kardon
* Sony ES (No special reason to be last, except that I hate Sony as a company)

>>> As for the other companies, I don't care too much about them,
unless they make High End A/V Surround Receivers.

Like I was saying; I believe that Hostility (our OP) would be very pleased
with the Denon AVR-890 (only $799 cdn at Future Shop). ;):)

And that's all the receiver he really needs for his system.
And again, it's only my suggestion, and mine only.

do keep in mind that when i do purchase what ever one i get, will have to last me a good few years, and will have to be able to play in a dedicated room, as when i move out, i will have my own dedicated room for this stuff. so it needs to be able to play in a bigger room, and i will eventually buy better speakers and so on..

also as much as i search on denons and pioneers, everyone loves both, lol

also ive been wondering, right now i dont have a HD tv. but i would like to hook up my blu ray using hdmi so i can use the hd audio, but can only run component for video. will i be able to do this?

so i think ive come down to this...

my fight between
pioneer 9040
or
denon 890

both similar in price, both do similar things. now i do like the pioneer look over the denons, and the audyssey vs mcacc doesnt bother me because ive never used both lol.
the denon has 5 hdmi, i only really need 3, so no biggie there, and the pioneer has thx plus, and the pioneer weighs more. but all those really arent that big of a deal, i think more or less the biggest thing is the reliablity and how well it works, and from both reviews it seems like both work great.

^ Just flip a coin. :)

But seriously, the 807 is also a very nice receiver (but cost more than the Denon or Pioneer).
Is it really worth it?

^ He can always get an HDMI switcher later on, in the future, if the need arises.
Besides, they are quite cheap now.

Here you go! :)

You'll be very pleased with the Onkyo TX-NR807, it's a fantastic receiver.
* Just too bad that the price is so high here in Canada.

** I'll wait for the sale coming before or after Christmas (if you can wait that long of course);
it will be few hundred bucks cheaper then. (London Drugs carries it too.)

Here's some info on it:

I was going to get the 807 myself, but than found the 1007 for $1000 US, there is no way I could pass that up.

The 807 would be my choice for you.

No sweat man. The Onkyo TX-NR807 will hit the $999 cdn target price later on this year,
that's for sure; just wait for it by keeping an eye on it.
Glad that you finally hit the jackpot. It's a very nice receiver indeed. :)

Have a great evening,
Bob
