I've had Cheryl running around getting me every little thing for three of the most beautiful days of my life. This is how I have abused the power of sympathy. If I had real power to rule with, it would be glorious indeed.
I've got an hour to get ready for PT ... but I wanna watch another Heroes!
This is complete f^%&in' bullsh!t !!!
Keep the crutches and use them around Cheryl as long as you can stand it. Practice appearing weary and out of breath, but gamely cheerful, as you hobble around.
After my knee surgery, I had about two months left before I got out of the Navy. I had to go back to work
, but I kept those crutches and used them whenever they saw me. As luck would have it, there was a change in command taking place when I had about 1 month to go. This usually involved everyone in dress uniform standing at attention in some parking lot while speeches are made. And just for grins, the old and new COs inspect the men.
I told my chief that I would polish off all the scuff marks from the crutches so they'd look good for the inspection. He replied that crutches were not part of the dress white uniform, and gave me that 'well played' grin with a wink. Later that day, he came by to tell me I didn't have to go to the inspection
.
So fakery pays off.
