I'm having a dilemma at the moment whilst working on my lounge. I'm sadly unable to go 7.1 due to rear space, so was initially looking at 5.1.2 which I can definitely fit, then someone said 5.1.4 could be possible.
The challenge is my couch can't move any further forward as far as the listening position goes, the rear ceiling Atmos speakers would be close to the wall, and between 95-110 degrees from the listening position which isn't in line with the Dolby specs. I've seen people do this, but I've not heard it so am interested in people who have tried a configuration like this before.
5.1.2 could be positioned without issue but I've heard people say don't bother if you can't do 5.1.4?
It's not a massive room so I've mocked up the distance between what would be the rear Atmos and front Atmos speakers using Kef 130qr's set at just under 2m from each other.
It's a situation where I'm thinking, if I don't try I'll forever regret it because this is the last chance I'll have to do the ceiling work, if I do it though and it's terrible because of the 5.1.4 setup, the 5.1.2 could have sounded better and I've wasted time effort and money?!
It's driving me mad!
