Ratatouille on Blu-ray

I was very impressed with Rattatoullie. It is definitely their best work so far in terms of animation - the textures and environments are flawless and the extreme attention to detail really shined in this one and on Blu-ray the video quality is simply stunning (got a 5 for video and overall from HDD). The sound was excellent. The story was decent, not their best, but it had good characters and was certainly entertaining.
I agree. They've definitely come a LONG way since Toy Story. I remember really being bothered by the way they portrayed ambient light in their early movies, but now it's getting hard to distinguish their sets from the real thing. I was particularly impressed by the look of water in the sewer scenes.

I'd have to say Mosnter's Inc is my favourite Pixar feature to date in terms of story, but Rat's definitely got the best animation/modelling/rendering from a pure technical stand point.

The Incredibles was poorly rendered - looks like they cut corners - but I still loved the premise of the movie.

Well, just watched the BD. Amazing stuff. Best PQ I've seen to date on a BD. The picture is completely flawless. No sign of pixelation or compression. Sound was excellent as well.

What does that tell you?
The crackles are due to the original source disc, not the speakers.

Ratatouille has the best sound & picture quality ever. Extremely dynamic. Goes from very quiet to very loud in a heart beat. Very wide dynamic range, and yet absolutely no audio artifacts like crackles & pops.:D

I agree! No problems at all. Now I need a new receiver so I can get HD sound!

It's awesome alright. But I think you should put Die Hard 4 on the top of your Blockbuster Que because I heard the sound/bass is off the charts on this one.

It's on my queue, but will probably be a wait before I get it, which is fine since I need to watch all the other die hard movies first.

Awesome!

If the amp is not back I will be pulling out the AVR and hooking the center through there. I have to have my system in "full out" mode for Thanksgiving football and the Rat movie!

I just watched it last night and boy oh boy... it sure does live up to the hype. The PCM track is spectacular, as well is the video. The textures and shading and everything is gorgeous. The audio has lots of surround going on, and the LFE track is very agressive, I grabbed my trusty SPL meter and checked the levels using the on disc audio calibration, and found that I get the same results as I do with Avia, and my receiver... which is nothing is consistent, I just level matched my speakers with the receivers tones a couple days ago and found that the levels on the disc were off by a few db on most channels, and the lfe track was way hot, but I left everything alone. A few times in the movie I thought my sub might bottom out since the bass hit so hard, but luckily the SVS stood up to the task and just kept on pumping out some serious bass. I really hope you get your amp back today, you don't wanna miss out on this disc. If it looked that good in 720p, I can only imagine what it would look like in 1080p.

Yeah, Ratatouille's soundtrack is absolutely amazing. That's one thing I've noticed repeatedly on a lot of blu-ray soundtracks, which I CANNOT say about HD DVD!

Examples: Underworld PCM, Underworld Evolution PCM, Hellboy PCM, Day After Tomorrow DTS-core.

I think there were some cool dialogues in the surround speakers in Ratatouille also.
