Did I miss it, or...

...did no one ask if the DVD player has its own volume control? Mine does. And if I adjust the DVD volume control, it adjusts the level of output coming through the analog L/R outs.

Jim Maine,

Sorry i missed the first of this thread. ASdam has given you some very good advice.

I looked up you manual online:

http://www.usa.denon.com/ArchivedDVDPlayers.asp?archivedModelSearch=true&clearCurrent=true&archivedCategory=DVD&archivedModel=DVD-1600&imageField.x=12&imageField.y=15

One thing else you might want to try. On the head-phone jack on the front of your 1600 you might want to try a 3.5mm mini-phone jack to a two RCA ( left-white right -red) adapter. The only reason I suggest this is you can change volume output on the headphones. here is the type of connector I am talking about: http://www.adorama.com/HOCMR210.html

Also, for a $200 AVR the Onkyo is good. Here is another good AVR in that price range: Yamaha RX-V363 http://www.onecall.com/ProductDetails.aspx?id=90956

Hi, forkbeard. You have a good idea, but it's not the case with his player. No one asked, but I (and probably some others) looked it up in the owner's manual for his player. There was no mention of a variable volume.
