Question about multi room audio!

Hello everyone!

I have a question about my intended set up for distributing audio to different rooms in my house simultaneously. I am a real novice so please be gentle!!

Firstly, all my music is on my PC and I would like to distribute my music via my wired network. I will have a TV in each room which will be connected to a network device - this network device (which may be an xbox 360) will connect to the server (which has all the mp3 files) - I will access the music using the MS Media center software.

I will require Dolby digital 7.1 in the living room and stereo/mono will be fine for every other room in the house.

So, with that said my suggested set up is as follows:-

1. In each room there will be surface mounted audio sockets - the wires will run to the PreAmplifier/Receiver source inputs. These will be for connecting to the xbox 360 in each room. I'm really not sure about this - will there be enough inputs? Is this the right thing to do??
NOTE! the preAmp will also control my dolby digital 7.1 in the living room.

2. On the output of the PreAmp/Receiver I will connect to a 12-Channel power amplifier. All the speakers from each room excluding the living room will connect to this amp.

Since a picture paints a thousand words this might help: http://lib.store.yahoo.net/lib/htd/MA1235D2.jpg

My main worry is that it will not be able to play music in every room simultaneously.

Hope someone can help. :)
