I'm a little bit confused on a couple of things

I understand speaker impedance affects the output wattage (Alot of great information here, that's guys!)

It's advertised as 100wx2 @4ohm and 50wx2 @8ohm.
Is that per channel? A/B, Or altogether?
I don't want to get a second pair of loudspeakers if they'll just be underpowered

Just a budget home stereo system, if you can't tell from the receiver. A reviewer on Amazon recommended 8ohms, so that's what I got, Sony SS-B1000 5 on amazon.

Also, I've read alot about DACs. Would you say it would be worth getting one for this setup, or the benefit not that much? My main inputs will be my Zune mp3, CD/DVD, and eventually a record player/turntable. (which I'm aware will require a preamp).

Also, another question- How much does input (eg, my sound setting on the mp3 player) affect the sound quality? Does the mp3's amp, and then being run through another amp, distort the sound?

I guess I could try some of this this trial and error.. but the speakers haven't come in yet and I'm anxious, :p.

Anyway, thanks!

Typically it’s per channel.

A quick Google search tells me that DACs run from over $500 to over $3000. Does it make sense to use something like that with a $75 receiver? :)

Also, another question- How much does input (eg, my sound setting on the mp3 player) affect the sound quality?
Sound quality can never be better than the weakest link in the signal chain. So yes your input source matters.

Does the mp3's amp, and then being run through another amp, distort the sound?
Keep the MP3’s volume control turned down, or use its line output, and you’ll be fine.
