Love it!
First off, this guy is heavy, a little bit of a pain in the a$$ getting unpacked, but well worth it. I had do a little millwork to the cabinet I was putting it in because it is so deep, not a big deal and was expecting to do it. I am only running six of the seven channels due to the previous set up I had with the limitatons of the Onkyo receiver. L, R, C, Surround L,R, and 1 back. As a pre, the Onkyo will support 2 backs, but as an all in one the Onkyo only had 6 powered outputs. So, got everything hooked up, and listened to some music though the cable channels, not bad, but I am pretty sure its compressed because it felt like I was listening to mp3's. I switched over to the Bluray player and put in Rush, "Snakes and Arrows Live". Whoooot! I felt like I was listening to a new version of it. Had her turned pretty loud and it didn't seemed to be phased by it, just sounded great. I also had my two subs turned off, and the Klipsch F3's were just incredibly punchy. I switched back and forth and opted to have the subs off. It was awesome hearing the tone of Geddy's bass instead of just a bass sound.
I also wanted to see how the amp handle being inside the cabinet. I had figured the I would have to keep the door of it open to keep it from heating up. The Onkyo would get extremely hot in the open when driven hard, so I expected the same from the UPA-7. Wrong, the beast got warm, not hot at all. So I closed the cabinet and let her play for a while more, nope, no hot to the touch feeling at all. My cable box gets way hotter then the Emo.
So, so far, I feel I made a very good purchase. From the great salesman, fast delivery, and IMO awesome performance and bang for the buck I would def go this route if buying an amplifier. I'll post a couple pics shortly.
I also got my ERD-1's, but haven't tried them out yet. My next plan is to go with all new speaker cable and new interconnects between the Onk and the Emo. Any input would be appreciated, and respected.
And thanks again to the people on this website in helping me select the amp, especially KEW who got the ball rolling.
