Pulled the Trigger; No Longer Different

The best advice I can give you is: once it arrives, carefully open the box, the user manual will be on top in a sealed plastic bag, slowly remove it from the box and very carefully open the plastic bag. Once you slide the manual out, hold it by the left top corner. Slowly walk outside and remove the lid from the garabage can. Then...throw it in.
:D***LOL***

Yeah, that's the one bad reputation Denon will not escape from anytime soon. Can't they just hire Gene or Clint to write the manual for them?:D

Congrats man! I know you will enjoy your new toy... what's next, a PS3?
Thanks.

No, the only reason I would buy a PS3 is if my daughters were to ask me, which I don't see happening anytime soon. PS3 games are just too hard for us.

Knowing you it would have more to do with the fact that it would not match.;)

Borrowing a word from Homer Simpson, "DOETH!":D

Yeah, aesthetics and component matching is extremely important to me...Not that there's anything wrong with that...:D

For example, I do want a SACD/DVD-A player, but it has to look like the DVD-3800BD & 5308CI. Not only that, but it has to also have the Silicon Optix Realta & Burr-Brown PCM-1796.:D

Yeah, ParadigmDawg is right. I am sick. I think I have borderline Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder. Not only do things have to match on the exterior, they have to match on the interior as well!

I don't believe that. I think you're just afraid that if you got a PS3, your girls would kick your a$$ on every game you play. It's all about daddy's pride.:D

I keep thinking that one day, I will awake and find a thread from you stating that you finally bought some good speakers........

Thanks, guys.

By the way, who's Craig?:D

Yeah, I sold the DVD05910CI and one of the PMA-2000IVRs. I have 2 more of the PMAs to sell. Then my next plan is to wait for Denon to come out with a new model SACD/DVD-A replacement for the 3930CI, which should look like the newer Denons. Aesthetics is so important, you know?:D
Lmao..........you got me, but I was very drowsy from the medicine I had just taken.:eek: Oh well, one thing is for certain, I slept like a baby. ;);) In any event, you are one lucky guy. Please take some pics when you get it. I am sure there are others here that would like to see some as well.

Cheers,

Phil

I just can't believe that nobody's called you on your statement that you're "no longer different." :)

Oh, I know. I've seen some 6 yr old kids play the PS3 like they can play it in their sleep with one hand tied behind their backs.

I can actually beat my daughters on the PS3. However, that was over a year ago.:D

This can't be good. No more analog seperates? What's next... cats and dogs living together?

**hee**hee

Well, I'm no longer "different" than most people only in that I now have a receiver.

I used to be on that separates-rule-all bandwagon.

I used to think I'm so special using 3 analog amps, instead of a pre-pro or receiver.

But I'm still very different than most people in that I'm a NUT.

I might add... if you're gonna go that route... at least you didn't spare any expense and went big guns. You've picked a fine piece of equipment. I'm anxious to hear about your thoughts comparison-wise once you get it all dialed in and had some time to really listen to it.

I knew you just wouldn't like the sound of that!:D

So why the big change of heart. One reason only.

The measured Specs on the 5308CI are actually better than most analog separates!

I mean the only reason to even go analog separate components was to get better Specs - I mean better Sound.:D

But these days, the receivers & pre-pros (Denon 3808, Integra 9.8, etc.) seem to have at least as good of Specs as any analog separates, unless we go into the Mark Levinson & Krell $$$$ territory.

Yeah, I've been pretty much an analog-separates-only kind of person for so long. I will definitely chime on how the 5308 compares to the PMA-2000IVRs.

Yeah, I guess I can get one of those cute little 8" Notebook PCs for one of the shelves. It is a great excuse for buying new toys just to FILL UP those shelves.:D
