I didn't realize they had special versions of the console now to indicate it could play a disc, tho.....
They are moving toward downloadable content and getting away from physical discs. I like the idea, myself. Especially now that the consoles are so powerful in terms of processing and graphics... getting the moving parts out of the design should make for a very good product.
I'm going to have to wrestle with the upgrade choice and whether I will still want to play any of my old PS4 games on the 5. I love my Fallout, Skyrim and GTA. If those end up available to download, it would simplify my choice quite a bit.
As I am not usually an early adopter, I am waiting until after the holidays
at least until I consider buying. I would like to see a stable system and hopefully a true fix for the HDMI thing before I commit money to anything new.
I'm d@mn sure not going to rush out and buy a new TV or AVR/AVP so really, the 2.1 thing won't even affect me for a few years. Still... I would argue this is not primetime ready yet and I can't help but feel the bleeding edge of technology is fast overstepping what our senses can process. While I greatly hate load times, having a game in SSD storage is probably the biggest advancement... along with just having better processing overall.
