Hi All,
I've used the PS3 for gaming, for the most part. I've got the Audio Optical running into my HK 47 unit. What should I set the PS3 Audio output to for watching Blu-Ray? The HK 47 can decode the audio, but I don't know what is best for it to receive..Off hand I don't know what the selections on the PS3 are but I think I've got it set to 5.1. I don't think this is correct because I want everything undecoded to go to the HK and let it do it's thing...Help Please..
Thanks,
Todd

I don't think the PS3 does any processing or decoding of audio. The optical audio output should be sending unprocessed, undecoded audio to your receiver.

If you change the audio output to Linear PCM in the PS3's setup menu, it will decode the signals and send them out as a PCM signal that your HK can handle. The PS3 will also decode DTS-HD MA and TrueHD signals and send that out as PCM. It won't bitstream undecoded HD codecs. As long as the PS3 is set to PCM, you can use any DVD or BD audio format.
